I can't reproduce the issue with a simple redeploy.
From the code, the only way I see to get the NPE is for
ConfigureListener.contextDestroyed() to be called twice.
Arjen, can you test for this? You just need to go to
jboss-4.2.3.GA/server/default/conf/jboss-log4j.xml.
Then add this to the logging config:
<category name="javax.enterprise.resource.webcontainer.jsf.config">
<priority value="DEBUG" />
<appender-ref ref="CONSOLE"/>

My bad. By default, the CONSOLE appender is set to have a threshold of INFO. So DEBUG
messages won't show up unless you change the threshold.
If you want to just go back to the default version of jboss-log4j.xml then you should be
able to see the messages in server.log. You don't even need the <category>
stuff I talked about earlier.
It will look something like this:

Here's an interesting point: I accidentally figured out that - not entirely sure yet,
but it's a start - the error mentioned above only appears in combination with other
errors. As I said, it wasn't blocking for me, so I continued my development and
included spring-security. Since that wasn't going smoothly, I kept keeping all sorts
of errors, but right now, I made it all happen and the stacktrace as mentioned in this
issue is gone.
So I took out the Spring configuration alltogether (well, disabled it in web.xml) and the
issue was gone as well.
Then I tried another thing: undeploy the war file by removing it from the deploy
directory. That made the error appear again. A new deploy from Netbeans didn't show
the error.

Sorry, was on holiday for a week. Yes, I am using it, the reason being that I got errors
with the built-in implementation, but to be honest, I can't remember them at the
moment. I have made a note to redeploy with the parameter being switched off and then see
what happens. Basically: I'll try and solve the other problem if it appears again.
If you feel my report is indeed an issue which should be fixed then go ahead, but I would
agree (hadn't seen - or didn't want to maybe :-) -) it is an unofficial
parameter.
