Thanks Marc, I do use 10.5 Leopard. That got rid of the error message. However, I still
cannot run this jsp file nicely put into a .war and then that into an .ear, which I place
in jboss/server/all/deploy
There can't be anything wrong with the archives, the META-INF directory or the .jsp
file, because they work fine in Windows. However, when I try the page , it gives this
error:

the fix simply consists in adding one line of code:

ulimit -n 1024
This sets the max. number of open files on OSX.
After adding this line I did not see any errors while JBoss AS is starting up.

Resolution: Done
Darwin allows max files to be RLIMIT_INFINITY ("unlimited") only on hard limits.
When the startup script tries to set the soft to be equal to the hard limit this fails.
The solution I have applied queries the kernel for the true limitation when the hard limit
is set to unlimited.
