If there is no navigation rule defined for the "success" outcome, then the same page will be redisplayed. You're making it more complicated than it needs to be. You don't need any navigation rule at all. [Beginners Corner] - Need a tutorial for jboss (please, read inside)

Hi , I'm currently developing a solution that requires netbeans IDE, JBoss3.2.5 and jdk1.4.2_08. These requirements exist because the company has a product that only has support on this versions (don't even ask me why...i don't know...). The application uses several databases, and several tables in each one. I was trying to use EJB but, because of the jdk version, i'm forced to use only EJB 2.1. I also tried to use hibernate, but couldn't get it to work properly. [JBoss Portal] - Seam + Facelets Portlet

Has anyone managed to get a portlet working that is impl with Seam and Facelets ? I hacked my xml hell together from 2 portlets that, between them, use Facelets and Seam. JBoss Forums uses xhtml but not Seam. The seam example (booking) portlet uses Seam but not xhtml. heh. i'm surprised at the hostility towards this log. I really like not having to add the isDebugEnabled() guard around my debug statements to save the string building. beyond that, the formatting comes for free. Before i would just use String.format in my normal log4j logger messages. As far as logging during development, i usually just attach a debugger and do it that way. I find it to be a much faster method most of the time. I only wish i could do the same through the pages... I want to just return to the same page when I get a success from login (this was easy to as I just returned "null" from my login SessionController.login action I want to go /mainmenu.xhtml from logout. this was easy to as I just returned "mainMenu" from my login SessionController.logout action (after invalidating the session). Stan, I'm trying to get the seam portal (booking portlet) example to work with Facelets. I get 12:10:27,323 ERROR [PhaseListenerManager] Exception in PhaseListener RENDER_RESPONSE(6) beforePhase. java.lang.IllegalStateException: Could not start transaction at org.jboss.seam.jsf.AbstractSeamPhaseListener.begin(AbstractSeamPhaseListener.java:286) at org.jboss.seam.jsf.TransactionalSeamPortletPhaseListener.handleTransactionsBeforePhase(TransactionalSeamPortletPhaseListener.java:27) ... Caused by: javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: Lookup UserTransaction threw IllegalStateException: JNDI properties not initialized, Seam was not started correctly To date I have not seen an example of Seam working in a portlet with Facelets. If you know of any example that exists, I'd really appreciate seeing its xml hell ;-) Using Seam should not be this difficult. Thanks, in anticipation... Humm... I don't have a page for logging in. My Login component is part of my template. I will try <page view-id="*"> <navigation from-action="#{identity.login}"> <rule if-outcome="success"> <redirect view-id="/mainpage.xhtml"/> <page view-id="*"> <navigation from-action="#{identity.logout}"> <redirect view-id="/mainpage.xhtml"/> And assume that "success" is the outcome you always return for login. I will move my "success" outcome from my rules to "actionSuccess" That should do it...
