Compatibility of Rule Flows from 4.0.7 to 5.0.0

by Vikrant Yagnick

Hi All, I wanted to know if RuleFlows made using the Eclipse 4.0.7 RuleFlow Builder will work with 5.0.0. When, I try to upload a 4.0.7 ruleflow into Guvnor, I get a NullPointerException and before that the following: Cannot find the declaration of element 'org.drools.ruleflow.core.impl.RuleFlowProcessImpl'. I checked the 5.0.0M1 jars for drools-core, and this class seems to have been removed from there. Also, after installing the 5.0.0 plug-in into Eclipse, my rule-flow nodes have all gone. Also, this may be a minor bug but it says(both in the docs and the BRMS Guvnor M1 Release): "Ruleflows allow flow control between rules. The eclipse plugin provides a graphical editor. Upload ruleflow .rf files for inclusion in this package.": Should the .rf say .rfm ? Cheers, Vikrant MASTEK LTD. Mastek is in NASSCOM's 'India Top 20' Software Service Exporters List. Deploying Guvnor M2 in Glassfish

by Richard Ambridge

On wednesday I logged a bug GUVNOR-19 indicating that I am unable to deploy Guvnor M2 in Glassfish application server. Since then, and with little sleep, I have been able to workaround the problem. To deploy Guvnor M2 release in glassfish, do the following. Download jboss-seam from http://heanet.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/jboss/jboss-seam-2.1.0.CR1.t... untar it, Download drools-guvnor.war mkdir tmp cd tmp jar -xf ../drools-guvnor.war cd WEB-INF/lib rm org.jboss.seam-jboss-seam-2.1.0.BETA1.jar cp from jboss-seam/lib directory into WEB-INF/lib jboss-seam.jar hibernate-validator.jar jar up the drools again jar -cf ../drools-guvnor.war * So, in summary, you need to replace the org.jboss.seam-jboss-seam-2.1.0.BETA1.jar in guvnor lib directory with the jboss-seam.jar file from jboss-seam and add the hibernate-validator.jar file Hope that helps some people :) Ric

Ruleflow Query

by Sangrish

Hi I have a ruleflow having a sequence of ruleflow groups. Each group contains a few rules. Also,I have, say a 1000 objects of type A in working memory. Each rule operates on A and may change some attributes of it. I see that the ruleflow executes a rule (present in any ruleflow group in the rule flow) on each object only when all objects of type A(the object which has the condition on its attributes) in the working memory satisfy its condition. I want the rule flow to run separately for each object but simultaneously for all objects in working memory just like normal rules without a ruleflow As suggested in an answer to my previous post, I can start the rule flow process for each object once but that will introduce some unnecessary complexity and reduce elegance. Can there be some other solution to it. Thanks Siddharth -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/Ruleflow-Query-tp19805816p19805816.html Sent from the drools - user mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

Can't check if an attribute is member of an object of class class com.sample.WorkDays

by Marcin Krol

I'm doing this: ThermostatTimeData ttd1 = new ThermostatTimeData("January", "Monday", 14); session.insert(ttd1); WorkDays wd = new WorkDays(); session.insert(wd); session.fireAllRules(); printoutThermostatData(ttd1); and then this: rule "Rule 1" when $wd : com.sample.WorkDays() $ttd : ThermostatTimeData ( day memberOf $wd ) then modify ( $ttd ) { setDaytype("workday") } System.out.println("Rule 1 fired."); end And I get the error like in subject. Anybody knows why? WorkDays.java: package com.sample; import java.util.ArrayList; import java.util.List; public class WorkDays { private List<String> wd; public WorkDays() { this.wd = new ArrayList<String>(); this.wd.add("Monday"); this.wd.add("Tuesday"); this.wd.add("Wednesday"); this.wd.add("Thursday"); this.wd.add("Friday"); } public List<String> getWorkDays() { return this.wd; } }

Checking an xml field

by Otaduy del Paso, Zaloa

Hi, I'm new in drools and I'm having some problems accessing an xml field. I'm using drools with jaxb to treat xml files that follow an specific xsd. I have the following xml (this is just a piece of the xml): <OASIS_TSO_1_0> <EVENT> <EVENT_ID>EVENT_ID_03/10/2008 10:22:36</EVENT_ID> <NODE_ID>00</NODE_ID> <OTHER_EVENT_ID>Incidente UME</OTHER_EVENT_ID> <EVENT_TYPE>POL</EVENT_TYPE> <SOURCE>HUMDED</SOURCE> <SEVERITY>EXTREM</SEVERITY> <CERTAINTY>88</CERTAINTY> <DECL_DATIME>2008-10-03T10:20:47.0000000+02:00</DECL_DATIME> <GEO> <DESCRIPTION/> <POSITION> <LOC_ID>14021</LOC_ID> <COORD> <LAT>37.9811636567434</LAT> <LON>-4.85417587343286</LON> <HEIGHT>0</HEIGHT> </COORD> </POSITION> </GEO> </EVENT> </OASIS_TSO_1_0> I already have a couple of rules working, but they are simple rules, like this one: rule "Rule1" salience 10 when OASISTSO10($e: EVENT) OASISTSO10($e.SEVERITY == "EXTREM") or OASISTSO10($e.SEVERITY == "SEVERE") then action The problem appears when I have to check the LOC_ID field and I don't know how to access to it. I have tried several things but none of them work 1. when OASISTSO10($e: EVENT) OASISTSO10($e.GEO.POSITION.LOCID == "40005") then 2. when OASISTSO10($e: EVENT) OASISTSO10($g: $e.GEO) OASISTSO10($p: $g.POSITION) OASISTSO10($p.LOCID == "40005") Then I have also tried with ($e.GEO.POSITION.DESCRIPTION, just in case the "_" character was the problem. But the same results... I have searched also for examples with xmls but I haven't had luck. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Zaloa

'Guvnor' on WebSphere 6.1 Success

by Steve Nunez

These directions worked for WebSphere 6.1.0.15. Fundamentally the problem is the lack of JAR files in the default WebSphere CLASSPATH, or the wrong versions. Two things are neccessary to correct this problem: * Adjust WebSphere application server settings * Adjust Guvnor settings in WebSphere (the application specific settings) * Modify the Guvnor pom.xml file to include additional classes (these classes are not included in WebSphere, so must be included in the WAR file) ADJUST WEBSPHERE AS SETTINGS I'm not certain if these custom websphere application server settings are required, but since they are present in the working configuration, I will document them here. The custom settings, and directions on how to configure them, can be found at: http://docs.jboss.org/seam/2.0.1.GA/reference/en/html/websphere.html General instructions for setting custom properties are found at: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rss=180&uid=swg21284395 ADJUST 'GUVNOR' APPLICATION SPECIFIC SETTINGS In order to ensure we get the 'right' application settings, we configure the application to load from it's own class loader first. Directions to configure this property can be found at https://zuxho14:9045/ibm/help/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.ws.console.appmana.... Select the "Classes loaded with application class loader first" Option. MODIFY GUVNOR'S POM.XML FILE The following lines need to be added to Guvnor's pom.xml before rebuilding Guvnor: <dependency> <groupId>javax.persistence</groupId> <artifactId>persistence-api</artifactId> <version>1.0</version> </dependency> <dependency> <groupId>javax.annotation</groupId> <artifactId>jsr250-api</artifactId> <version>1.0</version> </dependency> <dependency> <groupId>org.hibernate</groupId> <artifactId>hibernate-validator</artifactId> <version>3.0.0.GA</version> </dependency>This was sufficient to get Guvnor running on 2/10/08. I did not install this version of WebSphere, and do not know what other changes were made before I got here. YMMV. ---------------------------------------------------------------- This message was sent using IMP, the Internet Messaging Program.

BRMS rule info logging

by techluver

I'm new to drools world. Kindly clarify following things My requirement is to log each data in the DB(that meets any of the business rule) along with rule info. if I use BRMS ( i think it maintains the rules separately in its own db table) How I can associate each log with the rule info? Approach 1. Can I access BRMS's rules directly and associate it in my logging? Approach 2. I can't do Approach 1, then I'm thinking to have RULES table in my app db.Then whenever any rule is added using BRMS, Then add an entry into RULES table and use this table for my logging Please advise me on the right approach. Thanks in advance. -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/BRMS-rule-info-logging-tp19766686p19766686.html Sent from the drools - user mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

Re: [rules-users] to have some hierarchical control over rules in the same package

by hongyu lu

Hi David and Leo, thanks for the info. our plan is to get brms exposed to business users so they can manage rules with the guided editor(with template and guidance for sure). was thinking they need to be able to create new packages, which should not require any app side change. what i can do is to pre-define packages for different domains and let users use categories to organize their rules(always assigned to the proper pre-defined package or so). thanks Jeff ----- Original Message ---- From: Leonardo Figueiredo <leo.lists(a)gmail.com> To: Rules Users List <rules-users(a)lists.jboss.org> Sent: Wednesday, October 1, 2008 8:34:56 AM Subject: Re: [rules-users] to have some hierarchical control over rules in the same package Hi, Why dont you build an RuleBase for each package and runs it when and where needed? Or add an remove the packages from RuleBase as needed? ruleBase.addPackage( pkg ); // Add a package instance ruleBase.removePackage( "org.com.sample" ); // remove a package, and all its parts, by it's namespace Is it what you want to do? There are a couple attributes at the package level, which will enable/disable all rules of that package(not being fired). What would be the best way to achieve this? I am new to Drools and it looks like the rule definition is kinda flat. I would like to avoid defining package level conditions within each rule. thanks Jeff _______________________________________________ rules-users mailing list rules-users(a)lists.jboss.org https://lists.jboss.org/mailman/listinfo/rules-users
