On wednesday I logged a bug GUVNOR-19 indicating that I am unable to deploy Guvnor M2 in Glassfish application server. Since then, and with little sleep, I have been able to workaround the problem. To deploy Guvnor M2 release in glassfish, do the following. Download jboss-seam from http://heanet.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/jboss/jboss-seam-2.1.0.CR1.t... untar it, Download drools-guvnor.war mkdir tmp cd tmp jar -xf ../drools-guvnor.war cd WEB-INF/lib rm org.jboss.seam-jboss-seam-2.1.0.BETA1.jar cp from jboss-seam/lib directory into WEB-INF/lib jboss-seam.jar hibernate-validator.jar jar up the drools again jar -cf ../drools-guvnor.war * So, in summary, you need to replace the org.jboss.seam-jboss-seam-2.1.0.BETA1.jar in guvnor lib directory with the jboss-seam.jar file from jboss-seam and add the hibernate-validator.jar file Hope that helps some people :) Ric

Ruleflow Query

Hi I have a ruleflow having a sequence of ruleflow groups. Each group contains a few rules. Also,I have, say a 1000 objects of type A in working memory. Each rule operates on A and may change some attributes of it. I see that the ruleflow executes a rule (present in any ruleflow group in the rule flow) on each object only when all objects of type A(the object which has the condition on its attributes) in the working memory satisfy its condition. I want the rule flow to run separately for each object but simultaneously for all objects in working memory just like normal rules without a ruleflow As suggested in an answer to my previous post, I can start the rule flow process for each object once but that will introduce some unnecessary complexity and reduce elegance. Can there be some other solution to it. Can't check if an attribute is member of an object of class class com.sample.WorkDays

I'm doing this: ThermostatTimeData ttd1 = new ThermostatTimeData("January", "Monday", 14); session.insert(ttd1); WorkDays wd = new WorkDays(); session.insert(wd); session.fireAllRules(); printoutThermostatData(ttd1); and then this: rule "Rule 1" when $wd : com.sample.WorkDays() $ttd : ThermostatTimeData ( day memberOf $wd ) then modify ( $ttd ) { setDaytype("workday") } System.out.println("Rule 1 fired."); end And I get the error like in subject. Anybody knows why? Checking an xml field

Hi, I'm new in drools and I'm having some problems accessing an xml field. I'm using drools with jaxb to treat xml files that follow an specific xsd. I have the following xml (this is just a piece of the xml): <OASIS_TSO_1_0> <EVENT> <EVENT_ID>EVENT_ID_03/10/2008 10:22:36</EVENT_ID> <NODE_ID>00</NODE_ID> <OTHER_EVENT_ID>Incidente UME</OTHER_EVENT_ID> <EVENT_TYPE>POL</EVENT_TYPE> <SOURCE>HUMDED</SOURCE> <SEVERITY>EXTREM</SEVERITY> <CERTAINTY>88</CERTAINTY> <DECL_DATIME>2008-10-03T10:20:47.0000000+02:00</DECL_DATIME> <GEO> <DESCRIPTION/> <POSITION> <LOC_ID>14021</LOC_ID> <COORD> <LAT>37.9811636567434</LAT> <LON>-4.85417587343286</LON> <HEIGHT>0</HEIGHT> </COORD> </POSITION> </GEO> </EVENT> </OASIS_TSO_1_0> I already have a couple of rules working, but they are simple rules, like this one: rule "Rule1" salience 10 when OASISTSO10($e: EVENT) OASISTSO10($e.SEVERITY == "EXTREM") or OASISTSO10($e.SEVERITY == "SEVERE") then action The problem appears when I have to check the LOC_ID field and I don't know how to access to it. I have tried several things but none of them work 1. when OASISTSO10($e: EVENT) OASISTSO10($e.GEO.POSITION.LOCID == "40005") then 2. when OASISTSO10($e: EVENT) OASISTSO10($g: $e.GEO) OASISTSO10($p: $g.POSITION) OASISTSO10($p.LOCID == "40005") Then I have also tried with ($e.GEO.POSITION.DESCRIPTION, just in case the "_" character was the problem. 'Guvnor' on WebSphere 6.1 Success

These directions worked for WebSphere 6.1.0.15. Fundamentally the problem is the lack of JAR files in the default WebSphere CLASSPATH, or the wrong versions. Two things are neccessary to correct this problem: * Adjust WebSphere application server settings * Adjust Guvnor settings in WebSphere (the application specific settings) * Modify the Guvnor pom.xml file to include additional classes (these classes are not included in WebSphere, so must be included in the WAR file) ADJUST WEBSPHERE AS SETTINGS I'm not certain if these custom websphere application server settings are required, but since they are present in the working configuration, I will document them here. The custom settings, and directions on how to configure them, can be found at: http://docs.jboss.org/seam/2.0.1.GA/reference/en/html/websphere.html General instructions for setting custom properties are found at: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rss=180&uid=swg21284395 ADJUST 'GUVNOR' APPLICATION SPECIFIC SETTINGS In order to ensure we get the 'right' application settings, we configure the application to load from it's own class loader first. Select the "Classes loaded with application class loader first" Option. MODIFY GUVNOR'S POM.XML FILE The following lines need to be added to Guvnor's pom.xml before rebuilding Guvnor: <dependency> <groupId>javax.persistence</groupId> <artifactId>persistence-api</artifactId> <version>1.0</version> </dependency> <dependency> <groupId>javax.annotation</groupId> <artifactId>jsr250-api</artifactId> <version>1.0</version> </dependency> <dependency> <groupId>org.hibernate</groupId> <artifactId>hibernate-validator</artifactId> <version>3.0.0.GA</version> </dependency>This was sufficient to get Guvnor running on 2/10/08. I did not install this version of WebSphere, and do not know what other changes were made before I got here. BRMS rule info logging

I'm new to drools world. Kindly clarify following things My requirement is to log each data in the DB(that meets any of the business rule) along with rule info. if I use BRMS ( i think it maintains the rules separately in its own db table) How I can associate each log with the rule info? Approach 1. Can I access BRMS's rules directly and associate it in my logging? Approach 2. I can't do Approach 1, then I'm thinking to have RULES table in my app db.Then whenever any rule is added using BRMS, Then add an entry into RULES table and use this table for my logging Please advise me on the right approach. Working with collections

Hello everyone, I'm a beginner in Drools, so please account for that. :-) How do I use memberOf operator when working with collections? Depending on a day of week, I want to check if a day is a working day or weekend day. I tried this: package com.sample dialect "mvel" import com.sample.ThermostatTimeData; import com.sample.Thermostat.WorkDay; import com.sample.Thermostat.WorkDays; rule "Rule 1" when $wd : WorkDays() $ttd : ThermostatTimeData( day memberOf $wd.daylist ) //$ttd: ThermostatTimeData ( day == "Monday" || day == "Tuesday" || day == "Wednesday" || day == "Thursday" || day == "Friday" ) then insert( new WorkDay() ); System.out.println("inserting new workday"); end with this in my Thermostat class: public static class WorkDays { private String[] dl = {"Monday", "Tuesday", "Wednesday", "Thursday", "Friday"}; public WorkDays() { } public String[] getDaylist() { return this.dl; } } Now the above rule works fine when I select days using the regular fact field selection in Drools: $ttd: ThermostatTimeData ( day == "Monday" || day == "Tuesday" || day == "Wednesday" || day == "Thursday" || day == "Friday" However, when I try to access WorkDays.dl or WorkDays.daylist(), the rule doesn't fire (the program output is empty).
