Hi. I have such declaration of type declare Contact firstName : String end then I want to add new property to this type. so the next version is declare Contact firstName : String newField : String end this type declaration is in separate drl file. then I add this new type to current KnowledgeBase. but when I execute knowledgeBase.getFactType("test.package", "Contact"); I get old version of Contact. During debugging I found the place where is should be upgraded in the KnowledgeBase. org.drools.common.AbstractRuleBase.mergePackage there is // merge the type declarations if ( newPkg.getTypeDeclarations() != null ) { // add type declarations for ( TypeDeclaration type : newPkg.getTypeDeclarations().values() ) { // @TODO should we allow overrides? only if the class is not in use. if ( !pkg.getTypeDeclarations().containsKey( type.getTypeName() ) ) { // add to package list of type declarations pkg.addTypeDeclaration( type ); } } } so according this comments it's not possible to upgrade Type on the fly. Am I missing something? Does someone had such problems or know the workaround. Declaring events separately from rules breaks expires

Hello, I have the following situation with Drools 5.1.1: 2 drl files where one contains an event declaration: declare Event1 @role(event) @expires(1s) end and other has a simple rule: rule "Evt1" when e: Event1(value == 10) then System.out.println(e); end And I have the following test which fails: ses.insert(new Event1(1)); ses.fireAllRules(); clock.advanceTime(2, TimeUnit.SECONDS); ses.fireAllRules(); assertEquals(ses.getFactCount(), 0L); The same test passes if the rule and event declaration are on the same drl file. Further more if I declare the event in both of the files with different @expires the one being used is the one that is added first. I was hoping that the first declaration to be a "default expires" that could be overwritten later on with a new declaration but it seems that this is currently not possible. How to Ignore Rule Compilation Error and Continue to Compile Other Rules?

I want to add several rules into a KnowledgeBuilder instance through invocation of kbuilder.add() for each rule. I want that if one rule fails to be added, the remaining rules can still be added into kbuilder for business validation. However, this seems not to be the default behavior. If one rule fails to be added, other added rules won't take effect. Applying rules on the data in an RDBMS

We have over 15,000 rows in the database and we need to apply the rules on this data. We are thinking of doing the following. a. Read the data from the database in batches b. Create beans for the data that we just read c. Run the rules on the beans (this results in setting some attributes on the bean) d. Save the beans back to the database As you can see, there is some overhead in reading the data from the database, performing the OR mappings, and writing the data back to the database. Is there a way to avoid some of these steps? Can you please suggest some techniques that we can use to improve the performance? Also, I was wondering whether we can configure Drools to operate directly on the data in the database. Thanks Bhaskar

Did you try using ResourceFactory.newFileResource("C:\\savedRules\\rule.drl")? A FileResource is more appropriated for your case I think. CEP - @expires an event cause deadlock?

Hi, I am new to CEP though I made a simple rule which which declares an event as expires after few milliseconds. If events are inserted into a stream and at the same time events are retracted from the stream due to expiration, the application is stuck - Cant insert any more events and no events are retracted. declare StockEventWrapper @role( event ) @expires(10s) end rule "Stock Event Buffer Rules" dialect "java" when $stock : StockMotiveFactWrapper(timeAlerted == null) $sew: StockEventWrapper(this.synonymContainedInTitle == true && $stock.stockId == this.stockId ,$stock.motiveTypeId == this.motiveTypeId) over window:time(24h) from entry-point "STOCK_EVENTS" then System.out.println("Creating " + $stock.getStockId() + " " + $stock.getMotiveTypeId()); modify($stock){ setTimeAlerted(new Date()); } end Any known issues? any ideas? Drools Fusion - marshalling events

Hello, I would like to know if there is a mechanism that allows for persistence of temporal events (Drools Fusion) - for example to be able to survive server crash. It doesn't work out of the box - I raised https://issues.jboss.org/browse/JBRULES-2297 (along with https://issues.jboss.org/browse/JBRULES-2296, https://issues.jboss.org/browse/JBRULES-2318 - all having unit tests and patches...) about 1,3 year ago but they were totally ignored so I suppose I must have missed something really simple ;) (we use our owned patched version in the meantime, but I was wondering if I can switch to drools 5.1.1 without additional patches - unfortunatelly my tests still fail) br, maciek prochniak -- View this message in context: http://drools-java-rules-engine.46999.n3.nabble.com/Drools-Fusion-marshal... Drools guvnor not reflecting the changes made to rules

Hello, I have inherited a code base which uses drools-guvnor 5.0.0 and I am fairly new to drools. Now, when I change an existing rule via guvnor, the code's behavior does not change. I.e. the rule changes don't get reflected and the previous rules are still into use by the system. So, what are the possibilities of this issue? Is there some kind of cache which I need to clear?
