API differences in Hibernate ORM 5.1 vs 5.3

Hi,
There were lots of differences in the compatibility report, so as a first
step, I've excluded packages/classes that I considered SPI, internal, or
"grey area". This reduced the the differences to a more manageable amount.
You can see a summary of the incompatibilities along with suggested
mitigation at [1].
The report is attached to [1], along with a zip with instructions for
running the report.
I believe there are some "false positives" in the report, and I have
documented them in the section, "False Positives?".

IP banned from forum

Hi,
Is anyone banning users from the forum? I am getting "A ban has been
issued on your IP address."
I don't think banning by IP is a good strategy as many users will have
dynamic IPs from their hoster's shared pool, so it's a random game to
hit an IP previously banned due to some other user's spam.

New CI machine preview

however please keep these in mind:
- it's not the final machine: don't put too much effort in creating
nice build scripts as we'll reset it to clean state soon. We *might*
be able to store jobs defined so far, but we might choose not to.
- domain name should be coming: ci.hibernate.org ..not sure when, got
no replies so far from.
- authentication: just click on login, it will use OAuth2 to request
your identity via your GitHub account. Permissions to create new jobs,
edit existing jobs, run a build manually depend on your github account
be part of the Hibernate organization (or not, in which case you have
read only status)
At this stage I'd like to get a feeling if the hardware is powerful
enough, and also we need to select which other plugins we want to use,
I'm looking especially to:
- static analysis reports
- pull requests integration
both are relatively undefined, we can of course start simple and
improve later.. just checking this fits basic needs now.

JDK 19: Rampdown Phase 1 + EA builds 26 & JDK 20: EA builds 1

Greetings!
JDK 19 has now entered Rampdown Phase One (RDP1) [1], which means that
the main-line has been forked into a dedicated JDK 19 stabilization
repository. At this point, the overall JDK 19 feature set is frozen and
no additional JEPs will be targeted to JDK 19. The stabilization
repository is open for select bug fixes and, with approval, late
low-risk enhancements per the JDK Release Process [2]. Any change pushed
to the main line is now bound for JDK 20, unless it is explicitly
back-ported to JDK 19.
The next few weeks should be leveraged to try to identify and resolve as
many issues as possible, i.e. before JDK 19 enters the Release
Candidates phase. Moreover, we encourage you to test your project with
the `enable-preview` flag as described in this Quality Outreach Heads-up
[3], and even if you don't intend to use Virtual Threads in the near future.

## Heads-up - openjdk.java.net ➜ openjdk.org DNS transition
The OpenJDK infrastructure is moving from the old openjdk.java.net
subdomain to the openjdk.org top-level domain. This will affect all
active subdomains (i.e., bugs, cr, db, git, hg, mail, and wiki) and the
old hostnames (*.openjdk.java.net) will now act as aliases for the new
names. No actions are required as this transition should be transparent
and is mostly done. It should be mentioned that https://jdk.java.net/ is
not changing.

JDK 19 Early-Access builds 26 are now available [4], and are provided
under the GNU General Public License v2, with the Classpath Exception.

Hibernate ORM 5: end-of-life and upgrading

Hi there,
We're very excited about the Hibernate ORM 6.0 release! Our developers
have looked at upgrading our copy from 5.6 to 6.0, but they consider
6.0 "not yet stable enough" (no idea if that's justified) and have had
some issues with the upgrade guide. They estimate the upgrade to take
about ten man-days. That's all the feedback I have right now,
unfortunately.
We want to schedule our upgrade to Hibernate 6 ideally before the
Hibernate developers stop backporting bug fixes to the 5.x branches.
Could you make a rough prediction when that would be, so that we and
others looking at Hibernate 6 can schedule their upgrade?
