[JBoss JIRA] Created: (EJBTHREE-709) javaee_web_services_client_1_2.xsd is missing
by Levi Purvis (JIRA)
javaee_web_services_client_1_2.xsd is missing
---------------------------------------------
Key: EJBTHREE-709
URL: http://jira.jboss.com/jira/browse/EJBTHREE-709
Project: EJB 3.0
Issue Type: Bug
Affects Versions: EJB 3.0 RC9 - FD, EJB 3.0 RC10 - FD
Reporter: Levi Purvis
Priority: Minor
When using an ejb-jar.xml file (referencing ejb-jar_3_0.xsd) with an EJB3 deployment in RC9, the following exception will be thrown. A work-around is to download http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee/javaee_web_services_client_1_2.xsd and manually add it as schema/javaee_web_services_client_1_2.xsd to server/default/lib/jboss.jar using the command-line jar tool.

[JBoss JIRA] Created: (EJBTHREE-716) Add a flag to disable replication event notification
by Ben Wang (JIRA)
Add a flag to disable replication event notification
----------------------------------------------------
Key: EJBTHREE-716
URL: http://jira.jboss.com/jira/browse/EJBTHREE-716
Project: EJB 3.0
Issue Type: Sub-task
Components: Clustering
Reporter: Ben Wang
This came up from an email thread:
(1) By default, passivation events get called during replication cycle
(2) There is a config setting to disable this
(3) We should introduce JBoss-specific replication-only and passivation-only events that actually let you directly write/read the bytestream
(4) I will work to get two sets of events into the next EJB spec, ie. introduce @PreReplicate / @PostReplicate or something like that
We should now tie the replication to passivation events (there is no concrete spec but everyone else is doing it). But we should also have a flag to disable it if needs to.

[JBoss JIRA] Created: (EJBTHREE-707) TreeCacheProviderHook.isMinimalPutsEnabledByDefault() wrong
by Owen Taylor (JIRA)
TreeCacheProviderHook.isMinimalPutsEnabledByDefault() wrong
-----------------------------------------------------------
Key: EJBTHREE-707
URL: http://jira.jboss.com/jira/browse/EJBTHREE-707
Project: EJB 3.0
Issue Type: Bug
Reporter: Owen Taylor
Priority: Minor
org.jboss.ejb3.entity.TreeCacheProviderHook.isMinimalPutsEnabledByDefault() returns false,
which means "don't check to see if values are in the cache before inserting them again", but
that's a very bad setting for the TreeCache
- It causes unnecessary replication between the nodes of a cluster
- It tends to cause lock conflicts because the transaction putting data
into the cache has to get a (briefly) get a write lock. There are hacky workarounds in the
hibernate TreeCache code not to deadlock in this code, but you still get log spew.
The TreeCacheProvider provided with Hibernate (no JMX integration) returns true
isMinimalPutsEnabledByDefault() as it should, so I think this is just an oversight.
You can of course easily work around the problem by setting the value explicitly in the
hibernate properties.

[JBoss JIRA] Created: (JGRP-274) Don't bind to a NIC if bind address is not set
by Bela Ban (JIRA)
Don't bind to a NIC if bind address is not set
----------------------------------------------
Key: JGRP-274
URL: http://jira.jboss.com/jira/browse/JGRP-274
Project: JGroups
Issue Type: Feature Request
Affects Versions: 2.3 SP1, 2.3, 2.2.9 SP3 (2.2.9.3), 2.2.9.2, 2.2.9.1, 2.2.9, 2.2.8, 2.4
Reporter: Bela Ban
Assigned To: Bela Ban
Fix For: 2.5
If -Dbind.address or bind_addr are not set, JGroups picks the NIC to bind sockets to itself. However, especially for ServerSockets, this may not be desirable because we may want to have ServerSockets be able to receive packets through all interfaces, e.g.
- NICs are 192.168.5.2, 192.168.0.2 and 127.0.0.1 (loopback)
- When the bind address is set to 192.168.5.2, a given ServerSocket on port 7500 will *only accept packets from this NIC*
- If someone connects to 192.168.0.2:7500 or 127.0.0.1:7500, the client will not be able to establish a connection because nobody is listening on those ports on the given NICs
- If bind address was not set, this would be possible
- Affected: FD_SOCK, FD_PING, TCP, TCP_NIO etc
- We need to think about semantics for MulticastSockets where a wildcard address (not setting the bind address) means that the operating system picks the NIC, and *not* that the MulticastSocket will listen on all interfaces for incoming packets
