[JBoss JIRA] (WFCORE-695) OutOfMemoryErrors when adding large deployment in CLI batch with audit logging enabled
by Brian Stansberry (JIRA)
Brian Stansberry resolved WFCORE-695.
-------------------------------------
Fix Version/s: 4.0.0.Final
Resolution: Done
Thanks [~mkopecky] for confirming the problem was previously present when a batch was used but is not now. I'm resolving this against 4.0 since the fix was present there.

> When performing a deployment operation, audit logging will include the deployment content in the audit record (serialised as text).
> Comment by Alexey: Bytes are attached only when deploy command is used in CLI batches. Otherwise, it's streams.
> Since JsonAuditLogItemFormatter.createRecordText() creates the string in memory, large deployment will lead to an OutOfMemoryError such as

> A work-around is increasing the controller heap size, but it would be good if that was not required. If including the deployment content in the record is desired, perhaps there is a way to make it stream the record rather than building the entire string in memory at once.

[JBoss JIRA] (WFLY-9521) Marshalling of org.wildfly.clustering.group.Node implementations is suboptimal
by Paul Ferraro (JIRA)
Paul Ferraro updated WFLY-9521:
-------------------------------
Description:
The Node implementations currently serialize:
* org.jgroups.Address
* The logical name (typically a host name)
* The socket binding address/port of its transport
This is overkill. The Node should only need to serialize enough information to reconstruct itself using a NodeFactory<Address>, which should only include:
* its Address
* something to minimally identify the NodeFactory<Address>, with which to use to reconstruct the Node, e.g. a group name
Unfortunately, getting a reference to the NodeFactory during deserialization isn't trivial, as these are on-demand services.
Another approach, is to avoid referencing the Node in cache keys/values altogether. Currently, org.wildfly.clustering.registry.Registry uses a Cache<Node, Map.Entry<K, V>> and org.wildfly.clustering.provider.ServiceProviderRegistry uses a Cache<K, Set<Node>>. In both cases, we can replace Node with Address, and thus avoid unnecessary marshalling of the logical name and physical address of a member.

[JBoss JIRA] (WFLY-10200) WARN on presence of -jmx.xml file if embedded broker is not present, instead of doing invalid wiring
by Brian Stansberry (JIRA)
Brian Stansberry commented on WFLY-10200:
-----------------------------------------
Thanks, Jeff. This should probably be rejected then, unless there's some reason you want it left around.
I hate to ask this but in the absence of an embedded broker, could the processing of -jms.xml be adapted to function in a manner similar to whatever is done with the analogous JMS 2 annotations? I'm not advocating this *at all*. I'm asking only to educate myself about the boundaries/distinctions between the different concepts.
> WARN on presence of -jmx.xml file if embedded broker is not present, instead of doing invalid wiring

> This is largely a topic for discussion.
> If the messaging subsystem is present but no 'server' child resource is installed, there's a DUP that will try and create services for destinations in any discovered xxx-jmx.xml. These will fail due to missing dependencies on broker services.
> Perhaps the DUP could just log a WARN in this case. Of course if the app depends on the destinations configured in the -jmx.xml and they are not provided otherwise (i.e. separately configured on an external broker) then the app will fail anyway, and the WARN would just help explain why. But if the destinations are available, then the -jms.xml could be regarded as just ignorable cruft left in the deployment.
> For example, the app at https://github.com/jboss-openshift/openshift-quickstarts/tree/master/jta-... could benefit from this, by being able to work when deployed 1) with an embedded broker or 2) with an external broker and just an empty subsystem-messaging-activemq.
> An assumption I'm making here is a subsystem=messaging-activemq is or will be useful even without a child 'server' resource. That's what our current openshift images configure when we configure for an external broker.

by Michael Anstis (JIRA)

Michael Anstis commented on DROOLS-2458:
----------------------------------------
[~pere.fernandez] Absolutely (and this makes me think this must have been found already; as you need to select a node - and show it in the Properties Form - in order to then click on the delete (trashcan) icon in the toolbar or toolbox).

> If there are connected decisions, user is unable to delete them. Issue was found during JBPM-6777 review, however probably there is no relation.
> h2. Acceptance test
> Prepare DRG diagram with all combinations of connections, be sure all node types used, try to delete each node type in situation it is either source or target of connection.
