The simplest solution is to add a boolean flag forceStop for the failure handler threads.
In bridge stop(), we set it to true. In the retry loop of the failure handler, we check
the flag after each retry. If the flag is true, stop retry and returns. The thread will
then stop.

when bridge is stopped via the JMX, the stop() action doesn't stop the failure
