Write a discovery protocol based on jclouds (jclouds.org). This allows us to support more
than just EC3 (S3_PING). This protocol cannot live in JGroups, however, as I don't
want to add a JAR dependency.
Contact the jclouds folks to see if they want this (dep on JGroups)
