I have recently opened a bug on maven-compiler as I was having a NPE on my mac.

It turned out that the only issue on maven-compiler was hiding the real exception.
you can try this by cloning hornetq/master and using 2.5.1 on maven-compiler, and 1.0.3
on jboss-tools.
It's only failing on mac computers.
