A side effect was that my deploy dir was not treated as a permanent root of course:
repeated calls to VirtualFileURLConnection.resolveVirtualFile(), most likely based on
non-permanent cache policy:
- high cpu load, for every getResource or similar would result in request handling threads
could result in virtual file initalization (bytewise copy of all embedded jars)
- repeatedly copied embedded .jars from ear/war to tmp dir filled up disc
I personally find this behaviour of vfs for non-permanent packaged files disturbing.
a single class path resource access could trigger a complete recursive extraction of all
embedded .jars?

org.jboss.virtual.plugins.cache.CombinedVFSCache init in conf/bootstrap/vfs.xml,
permantent root key values are converted to URL via
org.jboss.util.propertyeditor.URLEditor, which in turn uses
org.jboss.util.Strings.toURL(String, String) to create a canonical version.
so
<key>file:/opt/jboss/home/../deploy</key>
becomes:
/opt/jboss/deploy
but org.jboss.virtual.plugins.cache.CombinedVFSCache.findContext(URL) will not create a
canonical url, so lookup with
file:/opt/jboss/home/../deploy fails to match key /opt/jboss/deploy
findContext should apply same String-to-URL conversion to guarantee match
