Thomas Heute commented on JBPORTAL-1842:
----------------------------------------
After discussing this with Chris:
Basically there are 4 scenarios:
- Click on the login link -> Modal login
- Click on the a link that requires authentication while being on the portal->
Non-Modal login
- Click on the a link that requires authentication while being on some other website->
Non-Modal login
- Click on the a link that requires authentication on a fresh browser or tab (no
navigation history) -> Non-Modal login
Scenario 1 (modal login) has a cancel button so we are all clear
Scenario 2, the cancel button would replicate the back button (javascript)
Scenario 3, nothing really intuitive here, back button or redirect to default
portal/default page
Scenario 4, redirect to default portal/default page is probably what makes more sense
We can always find usecases where this won't be appropriate (it some cases we may want
to redirect to the default page of the portal that is being accessed, or try to access the
page without being authenticated). But this should be globally ok for the ootb portal
Login form should have a cancel option
