Sam, Martin: please check out the version containing this fix (Branch_JGroups_2_6) and
enable logging at the DEBUG (*not* TRACE !) level for
org.jgroups.protocols.pbcast.NAKACK.
If Ton can reproduce the issue in the real lab:
#1 Tell me which nodes had problems receiving messages from which nodes
#2 Attach the log showing the merging of the digests
This will give me more info to tackle the merge issue.

We should log information about (1) a digest received, (2) my own digest and (3) the
result of the digest merging.
This should be logged (TRACE level) *and* we should also keep this information available
in a (bounded) list in JMX
