This issue had a resolved status before the comment "Pushing to GA, but we need to do
it then. Raise priority." was added.
I assume this should be an open issue.

We need to verify if can make 4.2.x clients talk to 5.0.x servers.
We probably need to verify the reverse, that is 5.0.x clients jars against the 4.2.x
server.
The 4.2.x compatibility matrix suite needs to be cloned to a 5.0.x one.
