Prabhat Jha commented on JBPORTAL-2301:
---------------------------------------
I think we should change the increment from 1 to say 10 users. This increment can be
configured.
So the flow is:
- Configure dashboard for 10 new users.
- Take the time for seeing dashboard after user logs in.
- Configure dashboard for 10 new users (so you have 20 now)
- Take the time for seeing dashboard after user logs in.
Measuring time for each addition of user does not have much value.

Key: JBPORTAL-2301
URL:
https://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/JBPORTAL-2301
Project: JBoss Portal
Issue Type: Task
Security Level: Public(Everyone can see)
Components: Portal Core, Portal QA
Affects Versions: 2.7.1 Final
Reporter: Prabhat Jha
Assignee: Viliam Rockai
Fix For: 2.7.2 Final
Here what I think you need to do for simple perf testsuite. Let's create one for
dashboard:
1. Add a mechanism to add 10K users with "user" role in database. user1,
user2....user9999. It might be easier to write a sql script. See which one you can crunch
easily.
2. Create a new dashboard test case, which logs in as each user that you created and add
couple of more portlets in user's dashboard. Again sql script might be easier if there
are not too many constraints to satisfy.
3. Add a new testcase which logs in as one of the user, goes to dashboard. Record the
time taken as user goes through it.
If I needed, I will write a smartfrog component which simulates about 1K users hitting
portal and each user going through her dashboard.
