deployed and was currently running would be sufficient

I've committed a initial workaround for this. So you should be able to see Started,
Stopped, Failed deployments. Additionally stopped deployments should be still visible over
the managementView JBAS-6708.
You would need to update to jboss-man-2.1.0.CR7. Then you can get the current state with
ManagedDeployment.getDeploymentState();

After I call stop() on an a deployment, the next time I call
managementView.getDeployment(deploymentName), the deployment is still MIA (JBAS r87184).

I've updated this yesterday, so it now returns the deployments also in the
getDeploymentsForType - maybe you want to give a try and see if it is working as

Yep, it's working now, though, as Charles discovered earlier this afternoon, a reload
of the profile is necessary in order to see the updated deployment state after stopping or
starting the deployment. Emanuel, it would be nice if after calling
deploymentManager.start/stop or other methods that could change the deployment's
state, if the deploymentManager automatically updated the deployment's state in the
managementView. That would prevent the client from having to reload the entire view.
