The javadoc should say something like: {code} * Participant implementations must be implement either {@link java.io.Serializable} or {@link PersistableParticipant} } Secondly, during commit processing RecoveryManager#persistParticipantInformation needs to throw an exception if the participant cannot be written to the object store.
