I don't think you'll have .NET compatibility issues with collections, however if

Yes, it does. See @WebContext and its property 'authMethod'.

I would take a look at the samples that ship with jbossws sources. For example, see
org.jboss.test.ws.jaxws.samples.context.WebServiceContextEJBTestCase.
