Sorry, the correct third code snippet is as follows:

<message name = "methodName">
  |     <part name = "paraName" type = "xsd:string"/>
  | </message>

notice that it is type = "xsd:string" and not element = "xsd:string",
as i wrote in my last post by mistake.
