If you use the API to start a process it will of course be visible in the console as long as you start it in the same engine the console is using. AFAIK if you have got user tasks and you do not want to use the console you have to take care of showing forms yourself. Showing forms would be in your client/application logic. If you submit a form in the console the task will be completed that way and the engine takes the chosen transition to the next task.
