I think I need to remove some confusion here:
All the releases that we do in the community (except for alpha and beta releases) are
considered stable. We cannot rule out all bugs but they are all well tested. Over the last
two years we also have build a fully automated QA matrix that allows us to run the test
suite on an array of combinations of JVM's, databases, JBoss and Tomcat versions. So
in this respect, the latest stable version has just been released: it is 4.2.
Now to comment on what Stelios said, the releases in the 4.x branch are not (yet)
officially supported by Red Hat. They are only supported by the community. This means
(among others) that there is no guarantee that particular bugfixes will be backported to a
version that you might be using. But if you are lucky, the community might just do it for
you or if you are willing to throw some effort against it you might just do it yourself.
I hope this is a bit of a clarification.
Cheers,
Koen
