[JBoss jBPM] - can't create a process instance - jbpm-users

Hi All,
I am very new to JBPM.
I am getting the following error when i execut my JBPM code

org.jbpm.JbpmException: can't create a process instance when processDefinition is
null.

can anyone explain in general what is the cause for this problem
