depends... is the receiving of te message a response to something initiated in jBPM or not. If the latter is the case, you can use asynchronous continuations. Otherwise write a simple mdb that signals the state to transition. The reason this is not provided out of the box is that there are so many different usecases that we do not want to support a few of them and give the users the impression we want to enforce those.
