Does this error always happen? Even after a fresh restart of JBoss? Are there other applications running on the server? java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: PermGen space PermGen space is sometimes caused after lots of deployments or if you use a lot of runtime-generated classes. I don't really know about jBPM 3.x since I started with 4.x and I have never really used 3.x. I assume you have searched JIRA for the problem?
