Any time I have tried to create a new RDSLR and select an [Extends] class I
get:
Unable to resolve parent rule, please check that both rules are in the
same package
The are both certainly in the same package.
I am trying to extend from a DRL, should that matter?

Works with the latest codes I have. Can you give some sort of mock
example of the DRL rule that you are trying to extend? I just want to
verify this is not failing because of that.

One thing that came into my mind. You could check if the package written
in the DRL rule is actually the same as the RDSLR is in. The package in
the DRL does not have to match the folder that it is in.

Child is extending BaseRule, which imports and uses Flow.
So the extends is within the same package.

That said; if Davide is correct, and rules need to be in the same package
the workbench should not allow you to extend a rule from a different
package.
If you can verify Davide's please raise a JIRA (for GUVNOR) so that we can
add the restriction to the UI.

I was able to replicate the reported behaviour, by clicking on the
"validate" button for the rule that extends another.
This is caused by the validation service only loading the single rule; and
not that it extends too.
For now, the validation message, can be ignored - as it does not cause any
other problems.
