All: We are using Drools to detect specific events/conditions in our system. In the 'then' condition of Drools rule, we would like to persist the "Rule Id" of the rule that created the specific event/condition This is because all our reporting is based on "rules" as filters, where users can look at exceptions by specific rules. Is there a suggestion or sample as how can the "Rule Id" be persisted or indicated in the then condition that is immutable or can be long-lived. The current approach of using Rule Name itself as the ID is brittle as this can be changed and suddenly all reports would break. If we assign ID's to rules, where do we keep the mapping of RULE ID to Rules. If we store rules in GUVRNOR is there a way we can get Rule Id's for Rules? Multiple DSL files with Eclipse IDE

I would like to add more then one DSL file to a DSLR file. I understand that semantically the knowledge base will allow this but is there away to allow eclipse the ability to view the DRL when multiple DSLs are being used? I found JBRULES-1615 but I am not sure if this was actually resolved or just closed. Question about drools-spring in a multi-treaded container (like tomcat).

From what I understand of spring is that beans configured without any additional qualifiers are inherently singletons. And when deployed in a multi-theaded container like tomcat, Spring assumes that the beans being severed up a thread-safe. So from I have read is that KnowledeSessions are inherently not thread safe. So putting the 2 together, I leaning towards the assessment that this above solution is NOT thread safe and that if I do want it to be thread safe I should set the StatefulKnowledgeSession to 'prototype' and not leave it as a singleton. Compiled rules differ KnowledgeAgent vs ResourceChangeScanner

Version 5.2.0.Final. I have a DRL file that is loaded into my server using a change set and Spring configuration. The file loads without error, and I am able to read the compiled package and print the rule names to confirm they did load; however, only one of the rules fires. Then I copy (hot-deploy) the same DRL file to its server-side directory, and the Resource change Scanner picks it up and reloads it. After reload, all the expected rules execute. My guess is that the Spring/KnowledgeAgent compilation is different than the one done via the resource change scanner. Has anyone else seen this behavior? Any suggestions for further trouble shooting? continuous integration of rule assets via jenkins to guvnor?

I'd like to get a quick sanity check on best practices... I'm working on a project where, by policy, all assets (including drl's, bpmn files, etc) must be built, tested and packaged by a Jenkins server. Rule assets are structured within a project that also includes non-rule assets. As is quite common, the primary system of record for these assets is an SCM like svn or git, and that's what our Jenkins box talks to. However, for the rule stuff specifically, we're also using Guvnor's drools-repository to package the assets into a knowledge base, which is referenced jBPM's process engine in the runtime. The plan is to have several Guvnor environments running with parity to development, QA, UAT and production setups. However, we're having a very hard time figuring out how best to sync our rule assets to these various repositories as part of an automated release. To the best of my understanding, rule assets are deployed to a Guvnor instance file-by-file via WebDAV. One can also upload JARs for POJOs, but DRLs, BPMN, DSL files need to be synced individually. Is this the case? And, if so, how do other groups handle continuous integration and deployment of assets coming from external SCMs? Hello fellow Droolers, A while ago I asked why the <drools:batch> element seemed to work differently in the case of a StatelessKnowledgeSession and a StatefulKnowedgeSession (see below). I just wanted to update those interested with the answer and ask some further questions, probably aimed at any developers who happen to be reading. I checked out the 5.1.1.34858 tag and had a look at how the Spring integration works. I found that the reason that the global is not set in the case of a StatelessKnowledgeSession is because the <spring:batch> element is effectively ignored in the StatelessKnowledgeSessionBeanFactory, which lacks the following code present in the StatefulKnowledgeSessionBeanFactory (in the internalAfterPropertiesSet() method): if ( getBatch() != null && !getBatch().isEmpty()) { for ( Command<?> cmd : getBatch() ) { ksession.execute( cmd ); } } So, either by accident or design the <spring:batch> element has no effect when using a StatelessKnowledgeSession (but is perfectly allowable in the XSD/Spring namespace). So my questions are: 1) Is this the intended behaviour or a bug? On reflection, I am now not sure the idea of a "batch/script" makes sense for a StatelessKnowledgeSession since execute() is a one-shot method and any globals set this way would not be available to later executions, which is what I was looking for. 2) If so, should the XSD be changed to disallow the batch element within a stateless session (difficult, given that this is determined via the "type" attribute) or should the documentation simply warn people that the <spring:batch> element doesn't do anything if you set the type attribute to stateless (somewhat confusing, I suppose) 3) If not, should the code above be added to the StatelessKnowledgeSessionBeanFactory.internalAfterPropertiesSet() method? 4) Should there be another way to declare a global that isn't through the batch element (one that would cause globals to be set via the setGlobal(String, Object) method rather than using the SetGlobalCommand via the execute() method. I am happy to try and contribute something along these lines if I can get some guidance as to what was actually intended. Hope this helps and thanks again for Drools. I've defined 2 knowledge sessions from the same knowledge base in the app context - one stateless, one stateful but otherwise identical. They both refer to a collaborator defined as a bean in the app context which is to be used as a global in my rules. Drools 5.4.0.FINAL and OSGI. Unable to instantiate service for Class 'org.drools.concurrent.ExecutorProvider'

Hello, I have been using Drools 5.3.0.FINAL until now. I am upgrading my running system with 5.4.0.FINAL. The bundles are all runing. I got some error messages and tried to reduce the problem and created a simple bundle.
