Hm, but the insight that
when A() A() then
with n facts of class A generates n*n activations is rather basic. OP
was running a series of tests with a rule whose LHS is set to A()A(),
A()A()A(), A()A()A()A() up to 6 times, with exponentially increasing
execution time.

Wolfgang - I don't think he is trying to "show" anything. Reading his post
it seems more like he wants someone to give him an insight into why it's
behaving the way it is.
