ResultCheckStyle.PARAM does not work with PostgreSQL

Hi All, I have created a simple test application which uses a stored procedure to insert a record into a database using hibernate. I used hibernate annotations and have overridden insert statement by @SQLInsert(callable=true, sql="{? = call insert_party(?, ?, ?, ?)}", check=ResultCheckStyle.PARAM) However, hibernate throws the exception ... There is a conversion table on page B-182 which should correspond to ResultSet object getter methods only. There is nothing about the conversion being done in CallableStatement's getter methods. Attached is the patch agains hibernate core Branch_3_2 which fixes the issue using getBigDecimal(parameterPosition).intValue() Please, could someone review the fix and apply the patch? Hi Steve, I can take ownership for the DB2Dialects mentioned and the WS lookups. In terms of dialects, this is already the case and in fact has been for over 2 years. And yet, it takes the mere suggestion of removal to a seperate jar to get any type of reponse. Honestly, what I really want is some ownership. JPA's allocationSize & SequenceHiLoGenerator

Hi, I would like to get some feedback on the SequenceHiLoGenerator impl. being used when specifying a value larger than 1 to the allocationSize parameter of the @SequenceGenerator annotation. I am indeed wondering why it isn't simply incrementing the sequence.nextval by one until it has consumed all values until sequence.nextval + allocationSize... The reason is two folded: 1/ Why would I want to fall back to such large row ids? 2/ What if some other system is accessing the sequence to insert row in the same table and eventually leads to duplicated values? Is there actually a good reason to use the HiLo algorithm to implement that feature and not the "simple way"? Am I missing something? Thanks, Alexander Snaps

hibernate-extras

Starting with 3.3 I plan on introducing hibernate-extras, which will be a separate jar which will include code which is un-tested and un-maintained by committers. The impetus for this move is simply to make it clear to users what pieces of functionality are tested in an ongoing fashion and are maintained by the Hibernate committers, versus those which are not. Users should have certain expectations in regards to those which are not (the "extras"). One such expectation is the fact that the quality may or may not be on par with the rest of the codebase; the important point being that we cannot guarentee the quality. Another expectation would be in regards to support for that functionality, and the fact that for whatever reason noone with expertise on those components owns its maintenance; thus improvements and bug-fixes would be expected to be patches from the community (or that someone with a stake in that functionality would stand up and take on its maintenance). Annotations and JPA

Hello, I am looking into the source code of Hibernate and I am trying to better understand how it is implemented. My question relates to annotation processing by Hibernate. Let's take a simple JPA annotation : [code]@Column[/code]. I would like to know: -What is the class in charge of processing the annotation (at runtime I suppose)? -How and when is the relevant method of that class invoked (at runtime I suppose)?
