Hi All,
I was wondering what the Hibernate developers thought about supporting a
project to port Hibernate into Perl?
My company is looking to build a subset of the functionality that Hibernate
has in order to support a couple of our upcoming projects. It has been
suggested that we might get support from the business to make this an open
source project, allowing us to involve the community in further development.
That then opens the prospect of making this into a Hibernate port rather
than just another ORM.

I am not seeing exactly what it is you are asking...
Are you just looking for approval to use the Hibernate name? Or for
ideas on the port?

I'm not particularly worried about the name, but my goal is to preserve
compatibility with hibernate, so you can pick up your mapping file, and drop
it into a Java or .NET application with only minor changes (much the same as
you can do with Hibernate => Nhibernate I guess.
I was more chasing some design documentation to help understand how the
"guts" of Hibernate fits together, as an overall design makes implementation
easier.
Since writing this document, I did find some of what I was chasing buried in
parts of the hibernate web site, but if there's any specific links you guys
think might help, I'd appreciate it.
