Can we setup an automatic way to record & publish daily (email to this mailing list) the IRC transcript from #jboss-as7? Personally I don't want to have a permanent record of #jboss-as7, but I have jbossbot almost trained to keep a rolling log of the past two weeks. Just need a nice snowy weekend to finish it... If people think a conversation is being recorded they will act differently. I'm pretty sure that there is quite a lot of sociology research backing up this point. Not saying recording is good or bad, just that it can change the nature of discussions. We've had good success recording our -dev channels. That's part of the JBoss legacy; it is expected from JBossians to speak their mind. :-) There is a very real need to let people outside the US timezones get in synch with what's going on with the development and IMO having an IRC log would help a lot, that's all. My reasons are that I would hate for the mailing list to get spammed with IRC conversation. It's much better to summarize discussed topics into a cohesive memo like we do today. It's not secret. It's all in the public. Further, at any point an time someone's irc client could be logging. The irc server itself could be logging.
