[JBoss ESB Development] - SOA exception handling

I am using SOAPFault in all error of my Business Layer in SOAP fault form. Can anybody tell me , is it good way to handling exception or is there any better way then can anybody suggest what is the best way to handling exception in SOA architecture. I am returning false in handleMessage when the user is not authorised. So it si not calling the web service implementation method, but it is returning the reponse as request not the custome response. How to write the custoom response when authentication failed using handler.
