Following up this topic about annotation processing for WebServiceRef. This also requires the processing of @HandlerChain? e.g.: | @WebServiceRef | @HandlerChain(file = "handler-chains.xml") | Where the file contains the handler-chains like this file: https://svn.jboss.org/repos/jbossws/framework/trunk/testsuite/test/java/o... Which would be represented by ServiceReferenceHandlerChainsMetaData? I also looked briefly at processing ServiceReferenceHandlerMetaData, but this does not seem to be possible with annotations - or am i missing something? [Design of Messaging on JBoss (Messaging/JBoss)] - removed deployers from messagingServerImpl

I have removed the DeploymentManager and Deployer's from the MessagingServerImpl class. These are now all created via the *-beans.xml file and instantiated by the MC. Because of this no default roles are added to the Security Repository when you create an embedded Messaging Server. You will need to either disable the security or add some default roles. I finally got round to trying the quick fix you mentioned but got a; java.lang.ClassCastException: sun.plugin.security.PluginClassLoader cannot be cast to org.jboss.remoting.loading.ClassByteClassLoader at org.jboss.remoting.AbstractInvoker.(Unknown Source) at org.jboss.remoting.MicroRemoteClientInvoker.(Unknown Source) at org.jboss.remoting.RemoteClientInvoker.(Unknown Source) at org.jboss.remoting.transport.http.HTTPClientInvoker.(Unknown Source) at org.jboss.remoting.transport.servlet.TransportClientFactory.createClientInvoker(Unknown Source) ..... which I suppose isn't surprising. You mentioned that ideally the classloader would be configurable. PL was chosen over OL as the default as it has been around a lot longer, has a lot more usage in the wild, and is regarded as more stable/battle tested. Over the course of 2007 we identified and resolved a number of issues with OL, the latest of which is http://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/JBCACHE-1228 which I suspect may be the source of the problem you were seeing on JBPORTAL-1879. Even though the implementation is going to be difficult - choosing inheritablethreadlocal and threadlocal, I am wondering if there is any way we make this configurable. Because your concern is just one of a hundred use cases IMO. I feel that the inheritance of security context by child threads should be automatic. Even in Portal, pessimistic locking was default configuration. Only after many testing, I found and confirmed that OL performs better under heavy load. PL is better when load is lighter.
