I am up for throwing NPE rather than 'assert abc != null' because it is often pretty difficult what variable caused NPE from the stack trace when assertion is disabled. It's disabled by default AFAIK. [Design of Messaging on JBoss (Messaging/JBoss)] - RemotingConnectionImpl and Mina Dependency

I'm planning (in the process of) abstracting the Mina dependency out of RemotingServiceImpl. I will create a new Interface, 'Acceptor', that will handle anything that is transport specific. To start there will be 2 implementations 'MinaAcceptor' and 'INVMAcceptor' but obviously we'll have more once we implement HTTP, Servlet etc and it will also help once Trustin is ready to integrate Netty. The RemotingService will also now be able to handle multiple acceptors. my first thought would be that looping is not good. i would opt for a solution that makes it clear when expressions are resolved and when not. e.g. introduce a new attribute like: <variable name="defaultSubject" value-expr="[#{processDefinition.name} #{processInstance.id}] generated Mail" /> if you have an eclipse patch file for the latter solution including a test for both attributes (incl one showing that #{sdfsd} is not resolved when using the value), then we can include it quickly. otherwise it will depend on when (if) we have the time to include this improvement. [Design of Management Features on JBoss] - Internationalisation of JBoss web/jmx consoles

G'day, I'm part of the Red Hat internationalisation team, and I have been working on internationalising the Web and JMX consoles. Details, along with the patch, are here: http://jira.jboss.com/jira/browse/JBAS-5576 Obviously, I would like to get the patch merged before the bits go rotten, so I would appreciate any help with getting this into an acceptable form. I would also appreciate opinions on whether internationalisation should be part of the JBoss build. See the JIRA issue for details, but essentially I need to know whether string-extraction and ResourceBundle-generation should be part of the standard build (which may require native utilities like "msgcat") (option A) or whether keeping such concerns largely separate from the source tree is better (option B). Option B is what I've got at the moment, partly because it's less work. Translated ResourceBundles would be checked into svn, and included in ordinary builds, but updating the translations would require running different build scripts against the JBoss source tree. Option A would require integrating a custom Ant task into the JBoss build scripts, and/or depending on native code, which is probably... difficult. Any comments? Regards Sean. The test "testThreadLocal" clearly tests that on the server, SecurityAssociation securitycontext (principal,cred,subject) are clearly not inherited by any threads that are started by the particular thread where this association is established. I would like to understand from Scott as to why the inheritance of security context by threads is wrong on the server side. That is fine. When I said "pluggable" I actually meant "use type instead of implementation" in the code. Along the lines of "always use List instead of ArrayList, when applicable".
