Hello, I am using Drools engine 4.0.7 and Eclipse 3.3 drools plugin. I have a very basic/dumb problem but I do not understand where my error is : I have 2 rules --------------------------------- package poc import poc.FlashFact; *rule "HP one"* when FlashFact( homepage == "one"); then System.out.println("*** HP one"); end *rule "HP commons"* when FlashFact(); then System.out.println("*** HP commons "); end ---------------------------------- I insert a FlashFact which homepage is set with "one" value. In my understanding, both rules "HP one" and "HP commons" should be fired. Instead, only "HP commons" is launched. I have compared with the Drools State example (which works fine), but I do not notice nothing. Thanks for your help. Hi , '$' signifies that its suffix is a binding to an object . using matches in a collection

Hi All i am new to drools and I am hoping that some body can help me out here. I data in string array and I would like to check if one of the entry starts with the string I have. How can check it ? Code is shown below @java class ABC { String[] array = new String[]{"abcdef","ghijkl","mnopqrst"} } @drools rule "check something" when $abc : ( ABC.array contains a single entry which start with "abc" ) Is there a way I can do it ? Backward chaining in drools 5?

I read the information available about drools 5, but support to backward chaining is never mentioned. Since in the documentation of Drools 4 it's said that it will be supported in the next major release I'm wondering wether it will be present in release 5. Does anyone know something about it? Drools Flow persistance

Hello, I been searching through all the documentation I could find about how to persist a flow. In the whats-new-in-drools-5-video-and-q session I found the following: ---------------------------- Q: For long-running processes involving human tasks, how is the state of the process/flow persisted? A: Various approaches available - database via hibernate for instance, file system, all intended for high performance. Working Memories are now transactional and persistable (JPA is also an option). ---------------------------- Is there any examples available somewhere which describes how to persist to the file system (for a simple start)? high cpu usage

Hello My app is functioning consumer/producer model. 1.Producer reads the data from DB and inserts to blocking queue 2.Consumer reads the data from queue and execute the rules using drools stateless session. Both producer and consumer run asynchronously. in my testing I found the following 1. for 1000 facts at a time and no rules in drl, cpu usage is maintained at 25-30% in my PC(Intel core 2 CPU,2.13 GH,2G RAM) - with no rules in drl, Is this cpu usage acceptable? 2. for 1000 facts at a time and ~60 rules in drl, cpu usage is maintained at 50-60% on the same PC. 3. If I have 1 sec wait between each execution of rules in consumer, then cpu usage is maintained < 5% high CPU usage is being big concern to me. Is this expected while using drools? Do others see same cpu usage too? Please share your thoughts. appreciate your input. hi, We are using Drools 4.0.7 in a web application deployed in WebSphere 6.1. Occasionally, we have rule engine failure caused by RuntimeDroolsException (whose root cause is shown as ClassCastException) when firing rules. Other times, the rules are executing without errors. Trying to get Sliding Windows to work

Hi, I am having trouble understanding how to use sliding windows. Here are the relevant snippets of code I added to the Hello World example under Drools Fusion. I also added a timestamp to the Message class (with corresponding get and set functions). DroolsTest.java: for(int i=0; i < 6; i++) { Thread.sleep(10000); currDate = new Date(); Message message = new Message(); message.setMessage("Hello World"); message.setStatus(Message.HELLO); message.setTemporalStamp(currDate); ksession.insert(message); } ksession.fireAllRules(); Sample.drl: declare Message @role( event ) @timestamp( temporalStamp ) end rule "Hello World" when m : Message( status == Message.HELLO, myMessage : message, ts : temporalStamp ) over window:time( 15s ) then System.out.println( myMessage + ": In the 1 minute window with timestamp: " + ts ); End My intention was to print out all messages with status = HELLO AND within 15 seconds of inserting the message into the session. I thought what would happen is 2 out of the 6 Messages I sent would be printed out. But, instead, all 6 messages I sent are printed. Drools flow and BPEL (Drools 5.0.0.M5)

Hi I am trying to evaluate various features (rules and workflow) of Drools 5.0. What I understand from docs (drools-docs-flow.pdf - page 5) is that the Drools flow engine is based on generic process engine that allows the execution of different process languages like RuleFlow, BPEL, OSWorkflow, etc. Although I am able to do PoC (Proof of Concept) with RuleFlow, there isn't any documentation/samples available for using BPEL as process language. Also I don't find any more information on blogs, etc. If anyone has done something similar, please let me know, or any pointers would help. Guvnor, database and rule language

I am trying to use drools to evaluate the following rule: Given a telephone number, if the telephone number already exists in database and has a balance > 0, set isAllowed = false. I cannot figure out how to write the rule.
