Hi Drools users, I've got a situation where I've got a list of Drug codes which can only be used for certain prescription codes. The traditional method for implementing this is to simply pre-load the values in a static Hashmap. Then if get() returns null, it is not a valid combination. O(1), blazingly fast. The issue with using Drools for this, is that Drools can match a code to a code, and mark it as valid, but cannot call it invalid, as another rule may still be relevant. Therefore, using Drools for this would require marking combinations as valid, and afterwards, doing a linear traversal of the prescriptions to see if there are any combinations that are not valid. Is this the case? I would like to try implement it in Drools just for the sake of consistency, but it seems a bit of a hack. Time Taken To Load Rule Resource

Hi guys, I have a drools application running that takes about 7 seconds to run. 5 seconds of this time is used in parsing 2 DRL files that 200kb (6200 lines of code) and 34kb (1400 lines of code). Do you guys have any tips or any techniques that I can use to improve performance? - Ade

what i've found is that you should always just make things as easy as possible for the rule engine. the RETE graph cannot put 'evaluated' conditions into its graph. it can't make a graph link because the method could evaluate to anything, and therefore there is no 'cacheing', though i doubt anything is really cached. so, if you can, call that method beforehand, and put the boolean result as a field in your fact object. that will vastly improve the run time. -- View this message in context: http://drools-java-rules-engine.46999.n3.nabble.com/Drools-Execution-Quer... gwt-console

Hi Im new to drools. Im trying to get gwt-console work with jboss server. So I downloaded the gwt-console code from svn ( http://anonsvn.jboss.org/repos/soag/bpm-console/trunk) and when I try excecute mvn install command from trunk it gives me following error. I tried googling but I couldn't find a way to get rid of this error. And also in forums they say that we need to change pom.xml to use drools as defult profile. Where I can change it? Guvnor M1 and jBOSS AS 5.1

Hi everyone, I'm having trouble deploying Guvnor M1 in jBOSS AS 5.1.0.GA. When I start the AS I become a long list of errors and at the end there is the message: DEPLOYMENTS IN ERROR: Deployment "vfsfile:/C:/Programme/JBOSS/jboss-5.1.0.GA/server/default/deploy/d rools-guvnor.war/" is in error due to the following reason(s): javax.management. NullPointerException @ modify()

Hi, I am getting a very puzzling NullPointerException when I call modify() on my object in working memory. I have the following rule: rule "Assign awardable activity to default context" ruleflow-group "select qualified activity" when $context : ResultContext( activity != null && activity.qualifiedActivity == null ) $candidate : CandidateMatch( member != null && match != null && $awardable : match && eval( match instanceof QualifiedActivity) && eval(((QualifiedActivity)$awardable).isAwardable())) $qa : QualifiedActivity() from $candidate.match then modify($context){ getActivity().setQualifiedActivity($qa); } end The NullPointerException happens right at modify($context). I can clearly see the $context object in working memory and this rule wouldn't fire without this object having a value anyway. Access to variables form sub-flows

hi, i've create a working set of rules via the Eclipse IDE. I've now factored my rule set into a sub flow that i want to call twice - each time with differrent parameters. i've created the sub-flow .rf file, and added a sub-flow call to it in my main flow. I've defined variables for the sub flow by clicking on the background and using properties. BUT... I can't access the variable in the sub flow rule groups! e.g. i define "isManager" as a variable, and then i write: if Agent() // there are plenty of these objects in my knowledge base... then system.out.println("found an agent, and the local variable is " + isManager); i get an error "isManager cannot be resolved" ?
