Instructions for upgrading designer.war?

Hi, I understand that the designer.war is a project by intalio. When looking at the source for the war at http://anonsvn.jboss.org/repos/labs/labs/jbossrules/contrib/designer/desi..., I saw the changes to be made to make it compatible with Drools. I think I can do some of the steps like 1) changing the web.xml to use tomcat instead of jetty 2) added slf4j library 3) move lib/bpmn2 library to web-inf/lib 4) changes to oryx.js that involve - commenting out the header - commenting out the log - change the repository url from "/designer/uuidRepository?uuid="+ uuid to "/drools-guvnor/org.drools.guvnor.Guvnor/guvnorAPI?action=load&uuid="+ uuid However, I'm not sure what is the BPMN2 import/export classes to replace in WEB-INF/classes Can someone could tell me which are the classes? How to write a rule that fires when it matches against specific facts in working memory.

Hello, I have a fact called 'Option' : public class Option { private String code; private Item item; public String getCode() { return code; } public void setCode(String optionCode) { this.code = optionCode; } At any point in time, the working memory can have several Option instances with different code values. My rules need to fire specifically when the working memory contains a specific set of options. e.g. Rule 1 should fire if and only if the working memory contains 2 option instances one with code "P1" and the other with "P2" (order should not matter). I tried to use 'forall' as follows : rule "Matched Options" when forall ( Option ( code == "P1" || code == "P2" ) ) then //insert( new IsPriced( i ) ); System.out.println ( "Priced using G/S "); end However, the rule above never fires. Maybe I should be taking a different approach. I'm still learning through how to create rules. So any help/suggestions on how to tackle the above will be appreciated. timer and duration

Hello there. I seem to have trouble with the "timer" operator which is documented to have superseded the "duration" operator for use in the rule body. I might have something to do with the "not" operator I use in my rule. Scenario: A is a fact, B is an event When I write something like this rule "test" timer(int: 5s 5s) when $a : A() not (exists B(a == $a)) then insert(new B($a)); // which means in the new B object: B.a = $a end I expect this rule to fire every 5 seconds if and only if the LHS is true. I just insert a few A objects at the beginning. So I expect this rule to fire ONCE, because it will insert the B event which makes this rule's LHS evaluate to false in the future. BUT, reality is, this rule fires every 5 seconds, no matter what. Using the deprecated duration operator with "duration(5s)" instead of the timer operator, it works as expected. I assume, that timer works differently compared to duration. So I conclude that duration should coexist. Or am I missing something here on the usage of the timer operator? Thanks in advance. How do I prevent the package registry from being null in my package builder?

I just installed Drools and wanted to build a simple RuleFlow. But When I add any process containing constraints or rules to my Knowledgebuilder, I'm always getting a NullPointerException, because the "package registry" seems to be null. ..... java.lang.NullPointerException at org.drools.compiler.ProcessBuilder.buildProcess(ProcessBuilder.java:119) at org.drools.compiler.ProcessBuilder.addProcessFromFile(ProcessBuilder.java:223) at org.drools.compiler.PackageBuilder.addProcessFromXml(PackageBuilder.java:447) at org.drools.compiler.PackageBuilder.addKnowledgeResource(PackageBuilder.java:503) at org.drools.builder.impl.KnowledgeBuilderImpl.add(KnowledgeBuilderImpl.java:25) ..... ProcessBuilder.java:118 PackageRegistry pkgRegistry = this.packageBuilder.getPackageRegistry(process.getPackageName()); ProcessBuilder.java:119 org.drools.rule.Package p = pkgRegistry.getPackage(); ..... The ruleflow is successfully validated though when i press that button in eclipse... Can somebody give me a hint what's missing? Guvnor - Limitation for number of classes or fields?

My class model contains in the neighborhood of 2,400 fields which we have broken down into the imported classes below. The breakdown is based upon repeatable loops within an EDI transaction. This allows our users to first select the LOOP (or class from below) and then choose from a smaller number of fields when building their rules. When creating a rule in Guvnor, the WHEN class/field choosers work very quickly. But then when you do the THEN side, a message pops up saying that A Script on the page is causing the web browser to run slowly. You have to answer NO to this question approximately 3 times before it then brings up the "add new action" dialog. The field chooser then works fine, though you get the script message again when you go to add another action. Is there a limitation to Guvnor for the number of classes or fields in the model? Is there a memory setting that needs to be configured differently? Thank you in advance! Question on Drools upgrade from 2 to 5

Hi, We are an insurance company employing drools ( version 2 currently) for policy validation rules and for reading policy specific rates from spreadsheet using drools. We are currently running in to memory issues when we execute the compiled JAR ( including the drools compiled files), as there are lot of rules fired for different versions of policy rating. My question here is :- Is there any scope of resolving this memory issue with upgrade of drools package from version 2 to version 5? Will the compiled DRLs in Drools 5 be more compressed compared to Drools 2? I have been trying to upgrade to Drools 5 by adding the necessary jars for compilation. But unfortunately I am gettng few errors on spreadsheet and DRL compilation. Is there more to work on the upgrade? One of the errors I frequently get for spreadsheet comparison is something like below: *Invalid character input "?" (character code 65533)* Please clarify my above questions. Hi All, Inside the persistence.xml file We are using Transaction manager: - TRANSACTION FOR JBOSS <property name="hibernate.transaction.manager_lookup_class" value="org.hibernate.transaction.JBossTransactionManagerLookup" /> - TRANSACTION FOR TOMCAT <property name="hibernate.transaction.manager_lookup_class" value="org.hibernate.transaction.BTMTransactionManagerLookup"/> This means that for every server or container I have to disable one and enable the other. Is there a way to use the same transaction manager for both application servers? How to obtain the object/fact created in the rule file?

Hi, I developed a rule as below: rule "Rule1" dialect "mvel" when Fields( field1 > "100" ) then FieldResults fact0 = new FieldResults(); fact0.setField1( "This is Correct!" ); insert(fact0 ); end After calling fireAllRules(...), the above rule will be fired and created a fact object in the working memory. My problem is how to obtain the FieldResults object in the java program. Please advise. Thanks Benson

Writing a pattern in which each event constraint depends on the previous event

Hello everyone. Lets say we have StockTicks... Is it possible to detect a monotonically decreasing StockTick stream over a window? If I knew the number of events I want to check on, I'd do it this way $a : StockTick() over window:time(20s) $b : StockTick(this after $a, price < $a.price) over window:time(20s) ... But I don't know for how long the StockTick prices continue to decrease.. I imagine doing something like that $list : List(size > 0) from collect(StockTick() over window:time(20s)) forall($a : StockTick() from $list $b : StockTick(this after $a, price < $a.price from $list ) That results in a nice exception. Any idea how to do this work? And more efficiently than my approach?
