/We would like to create a test scenario for each decision table (job type)
which have varying number of condition columns, which contain between 5 to
25 different conditions./
This is pretty easy stuff, if you are using guvnor, you can directly create
a test scenario inside the package where the model and rules are present
In case you are not using guvnor, you will have to write JUnit test cases
/What we are having trouble determining is how to pass a map of data to the
test scenario via a declarative model/
You can directly insert a map object to your session

Thank abhinay for your reply.
I know a can create Test Scenarios in Guvnor and thats what I'm attempting
to do we want to avoid coding the tests in JUnit, of which we already have a
few tests to test the functionality of the underlying system (fuse esb).
My problem is with what I've attempted so far I'm unable to get these rules
to fire. I put it down to not being able to pass the data through to the
test correctly, when setting it up in Test Scenario set up area.
What im unsure of is how to present the data within the test scenario so
it's passed through as a Map and not just a delcarative Model as per the
following :-
declare incomingData
workType: String
status: String
end
I know i can setup the map in a declared model like so
declare incomingData
incomingData: java.util.Map
end
What i don't get is how to set the values within the map inside the test
scenario.
If anyone can point me to an example or explain it i'll be very grateful.

If you can insert data for the declared incomingData and make a rule
fire for each fact, the consequence could create the map from the
fields of the incomingData fact and insert it. This might be easier
than inserting a map in the first place.

I did not write "automatically". - In a single rule firing for each
incomingData, let the RHS code create a map, put the incomingData
object's fields as map elements and insert the map.

Thank you guys, for the above I've come to use the following.
This will also make it MUCH MUCH easier for the business users to add new
rules to the decision sheets (excel) and allow them to just use a simple Job
Fact for the input of data to test against :)
For others interested, what i ended up doing was creating an DRL rule in the
following fashion as per suggestion.
rule "JobMapRule"
dialect "mvel"
when
job : Job( )
then
Map incomingData = new HashMap();
incomingData.put('workType', job.workType);
incomingData.put('status', job.status);
insert(incomingData)
retract(job)
end
This way my incomingData Fact gets created to memory, then removes the Job
Fact from memory so that it does not appear to have fired within the Test
Scenarios as well :)
Thanks for your help. This has been an extremely large learning curve this
past few days.

Last question I hope.
In the test scenario how can i stop it from telling me that the rule
JobMapRule fire. Within the test scenario it does not need to know that
information.
