Hi,
When I was blogging for Errai we had a dedicated blog page errai-blog.blogspot.ch, good
thing about that is that it's very simple gathers all the blogs about Errai into a
single place. Now we don't have that for AeroGear everybody uses there own personal
blog. But wouldn't it be nice if we could somehow mesh those post all up ad put them
on the site somehow? Something like a recent blog section. Only problem is how do we make
something like that? We could use a feed aggregator to mesh all these feeds up into one
and publish a feed about AeroGear, that would be a start. But how would we display the
titles that are in this feed on the site. There are javascript feed parsers, but because
of XSS restrictions this wouldn't help much or we could use jekll to download the feed
as xml and then parse it in javascript, but is then the update cycle fast enough?
What do you guys thing about having a aggregated feed and or a recent blog section on the
site?

Hi Erik
To start with, we could just just create a section which link to all latest Blog post. I
like to have my blog post on my personal blog because it's personal view :) Besides
each of us has his/her technical background and it offers a natural classification of the
blog posts.
Not sure either we can achieve a nice look and feel with feed.

In my opinion this is actually a pretty large item for us to consider. We have no good
place for users to see the blogs and content that we've created.
http://aerogear.org/news/ is not cutting it, and we have so much great content that
we've all created that is sort of just lost.
I understand the SEO concerns, but is there another way around this? Lots of project,
both internal and external have different ways of handling this. Can we review/brainstorm
other ways of solving the issue?

Well, we could just put a planet section under /news/ and put links to
the blogs (I post a blog, then push a link to it) - That wouldn't hurt SEO.
We could even automate this with some sort of crawler/aggregator, but I
don't think it's worth the time.
Another option would be always blogging under /news/, which honestly I'm
not a fan.

to separate AG posts on personal blogs from non-AG ones.
I think you can then get the rss feed of that aggregator and display it on the AG home
page

Do you know the degree of impact here, or links for more details for us to review. I did
some quick searches and read some of them, but a lot seemed mixed, some good, some bad.
Lots of other projects have aggregators for articles/blogs, and may have some way around
this. So I'm just wondering what they might be doing to avoid this, or perhaps the
impact is just not that much. I'm not sure...

'aerogear' appear there :P)

posts, but to have an aggregator to get blog posts from our personal blogs that contain a
special tag, 'aerogear' for instance, and have jekyll download that rss.xml file
then we can have a page somewhere on the aerogear.org site, that is the same style as the
rest of the site, with just links and maybe a short intro to the actual blog. That way
people searching for things about aerogear don't have to know all our personal names
and blog addresses and it doesn't kill SEO it supports it as our blogs will even
ranked higher in google. The only issue with this approach is that we don't update the
site that often, but that is also something we could live with.

Afaik arquillian.org is completely static. And page requires you to blog at
arquillian.org/blog. Latest news/upcoming issues are also generated during site
deployment.

Yeah found that out already, so what I've created is a little application deployed on
openshift that takes rss feeds and mashes them together with a CORS filter so that it can
be called from javascript on the aerogear.org site. Under the news section I've added
javascript that takes this rss and outputs it.
Now all that needs to be done is adding your blogs feed, with special tag/category, and
add it to the blog.yml file so that it gets included in the mesh
