Nope this is unrelated. You could have n instances of the same event
listener class and this code protect from this.

I never fully understood the need of that, I thought because we could
have several Search listeners
registered, but if we could delete
FullTextIndexCollectionEventListener this shouldn't be an issue
anymore.
