I didn't try with notify = true on task because i can't send mails where i am. Your timer doesn't work ? Because when i test on my JBoss AS this code, i just signal under jbpm-console to start the process and after 7 seconds, the timer works, it auto-switches to the task node and the System.out of the assign method appears in my logs.
