Hi, I need to know how garbage collection will happen in Drools. Because my system is taking too much time to execute the business logic. Please tell me how to rectify it? One more question I will generate the email content dynamically and send to the client but what will happening is it's taking same content for all mail I think the Last content. For example Through business rule it has generated three mails and it has to send to supervisor then all mail contains last main information like name, Address etc. Please tell me how to rectify it. I need to know how to assert two object of same type and refer then in .drl file. I need to know how to access string array. Unable to compile JBoss Rules example code - HelloWorldExample.java

Hi, I am unable to compile the example code for JBoss, could some body help me out how to go about compiling the example code ? Is there a document that explains the steps for compiling the example source code ? Please let me know. hi, I was trying to compile the example code that is provided with Jboss Rules - HelloWorldExample.java using javac. Oana, Although your example used a superclass/subclass relationship, the problem is not due to that relationship, You could just as well have written two CAR rules : "if a car's price is <20000, then risk of theft is low" "if a car has the stealth radar avoidance option, then risk of theft is high" You might be upset by the infinite loop, but there is no way to know how you would like to assess the theft risk of a car that satisfies BOTH conditions. Here are two ways you might deal with this. a) maybe neither of these conditions is really sufficient to determine the theft risk, but simply to influence that risk. The "then" part of the rule should just increment/decrement a value the accumulates the net risk. But don't have the increment/decrement also tell drools that the CAR was modified. b) maybe the rules are TOTALLY ORDERED in your analytical model, and the first rule that applies is the only one that matters. You can use SALIENCE in drools to capture ordering. If all the rules are in a single activation group, then only the highest salience match will actually run (at least, that is my understanding). using null in drools rulebase

hi everyone need a bit more help here. im currently attempting to write some rules into my rulesbase and can't seem to get the system to check if a variable is empty. i have tried using null as shown in the code below rule "small beak + small body + garden" when Beak(beak == "small beak", beak = null) && Body(body == "small body") Location(location == "garden") then ES.resultsmx("<p> ); ES.resultsmx( Robin </p>"); ES.resultsop(); end which dosent work but for some reason i am able to check if it is not null by doing this rule "small beak + small body + garden" when Beak(beak == "small beak", beak != null) && Body(body == "small body") Location(location == "garden") then ES.resultsmx("<p> ); ES.resultsmx( Robin </p>"); ES.resultsop(); end I have tired using == null but this returns a false and the rule dosent run. can anyone help me please. Also if anyone has any knowledge of how to write rules so it only outputs one result instead of repeatedly running the conditions and outputting results for each correct condition and also how to check if a string variable contains a substring (within a rule) that would be greatly appreciated . conditional insert of 'exist' or 'not' keywords in decision table s

Hi, I wonder if it's possible to pass some Column keywords as parameters from template values, eg: Condition Condition $1 Driver $1 Policy age >= $2, age <= $3 type exists, 21, 25 , comprehensive not, 64, 100 exists, comprehensive I'd expect the above table would generate two rules like: Rule 1 When exists Driver (age >= 21, age <= 25) Policy(type == "comprehensive") Then // do smth End Rule 2 When not Driver (age >= 64, age <= 100) exists Policy (type == "comprehensive") then // do smth End The above example is just a mock up derived from one of the examples in the documentation to demonstrate the point (meaning, the rules themselves might not make sense from business point of view or can be implemented differently for this particular case). So, any way to achieve this? Whether in current version (3.0.x) or the upcoming release (3.2) Thanks, Vlad

Thread safety of objects in working memory

I have a RulesEngine class which consists of single instance of a WorkingMemory and the RuleBase. In my application two threads access the working memory concurrently and assert/modify/retract my business objects (of same type/class). What will happen if one of the thread fires a rule which retracts an object while the other thread is working on that object? Even if you use Agenda Groups, you can't prevent the LHS (condition statement) to be evaluated for every single rule. In the case where you have multiple rule's LHS are evaluted to be true, the "drools.assert" executed during the first valid rule would cause a revaluation of all rules that has "!customer.sentEvent" in its condition. When the re-evaluations reoccur, the !customer.sendAEvent is evaluated to false, hence a event is never sent twice to the customer. Agenda groups isn't a good idea because then your agenda groups is tightly tied to the data. You might end up creating more and more agenda groups for each customer. This works, but I wonder if there is a better way to do it - using Agenda Groups, maybe - once I find ONE match for Walmart, skip to the next Agenda Group?! Could someone comment on this? Special characters in rule parameter
