Processing a collection within a fact object

I have an application that is inserting a fact object into a session. The object has a collection in it that is being iterated and each of the individual children objects is being inserted into the session with a reference back to their "parent" object. The child facts cause other rules to fire and the children objects are updated in some situations. Is there any way to determine if all the rules have fired due to the children insertions? The desired result is to have a parent object with possible updates to the children for further processing. Can and should an accumulator be used instead of the inserting the child objects? Thanks Edson, however here is more info on the issue as I've been playing with it: 1. I have other elements in other objects referenced within the same rule group that start with capital letters and they have no problem. Example: , FHAMaxBaseMortgageWithToleranceAmt < ($totalLoanAmt+$aggregateSubordinateFinancingAmt) Compiles just fine in the same session. 2. If I lower the first M to m to make it mICompanyMarketClassification, it compiles in 5.2 but does NOT compile in 5.0.1 3. We can try to address this in future releases, maybe falling back to uppercase if the lower case property name lookup fails, but I don't think there is a solution to keep it as is. Capitalized element names

In the following rule, the element MICompanyMarketClassification is capitalized due to the MI portion being an acronym for Mortgage Insurance. enums and subclass under guvnor : no listbox

Hi all I have two simple classes : The parent class has a field that is an enum. The other class inherits from the parent class. Under Guvnor, everything is OK for the parent class : when I add a constraint on the "enum" field, I see a listbox with enum values But for sub-class, the same field has no listbox, but only a free value text input. Can you confirm this is a bug? I use Guvnor 5.2.Final. Thanks ! Deprecated Drools packages?

I keep seeing mentioned on the mailing list packages which have been deprecated (or are not part of the "stable" release), but I have not seen any javadocs or other documentation (and google has been no help) indicating *which* packages I should avoid using. Every time Eclipse gives me a choice between two packages for a Drools class, I am unsure which one to pick. Apologies if I've missed something obvious, but can someone educate me? Thanks! Mike

Reclaiming memory usage

Hello I am performing a simple test of injecting an event every 1 millisecond like so: for (int x = 0; x < 100000; x++){ DataReading dr = new DataReading("Reading " + x, 12.0f); myStream.insert(dr); ksession.fireAllRules(); Thread.sleep(1); } The rule that evaluates this is simple. It basically delays "then" for 3s to see if a followup reading is inserted and makes sure that no ReconfigEvent is active(5s expiration). So if a reading comes in and a followup reading is not inserted within 3 seconds and there is is not an existing ReconfigEvent event alive, then it should output and insert a ReconfigEvent, essentially disabling any DataReading action on those events for the next 5 seconds or so. This all works just fine as expected. My question is, how come I don't get memory back when all 100,000 of my events have been inserted. Memory goes up slowly over the course of insertions, which I can understand, but once that loop is finished, memory never reduces, so essentially, the application will eventually run out of memory after some time. I should not have to explicitly remove/retract events should I? Shouldn't they be removed from working memory as soon as they are no longer viable? What should I be doing to reclaim memory from the session/knowledgebase? counting Facts

Temporal rule doesn't fire in STREAM mode

Hello, I have been fighting with this issue for several days, and I just stumbled upon the reason why, but that raised another question for me. I have a rule checking that two events of the same type do not occur in succession without an event of a specific other type in between them: # If two WorkerInWorkEvents exist for a worker, there must be a WorkerOutOfWorkEvent between them rule "ERROR: Consecutive WorkerInWorkEvents" when $w1 : WorkerInWorkEvent( $workerId : workerId ) $w2 : WorkerInWorkEvent( workerId == $workerId, this after $w1 ) not WorkerOutOfWorkEvent( workerId == $workerId, this after $w1, this before $w2 ) then errors.add("Two WorkerInWorkEvents without a WorkerOutOfWorkEvent in between (" + $w2 + ")"); retract( $w2 ); end I could see via the log that this file was activating, however it was never firing. The retraction of $w2 should have cancelled other rules' activations, but it wasn't doing so because this rule was never firing. I just discovered a thread (http://drools.46999.n3.nabble.com/Drools-fusion-and-absence-of-events-td5...) which finally explained to me the reason why: I was running in STREAM mode, and the engine was waiting to see if a WorkerOutOfWorkEvent timestamped between the two WorkerInWorkEvents was going to show up. When I switched to CLOUD mode, the rule fired as expected and my other activations were cancelled as I expected. Now, my new question is: Since I have not specified any intervals, how long will the engine wait for the WorkerOutOfWorkEvent to show up? Forever? Eclipse Java compliance

Hi, I'm new to Drools. I searched on the topics but I couldn't find anything useful. ----------- My environment is Windows 7 64bit Java 1.6 jdk Eclipse SDK 3.6 JBoss Tools 3.2.0 with latest drools plugin. Drools 5.2 runtime ------------ When I try to create a new Drools Project from eclipse ide, I get the following error for each rule file: test/rule/Rule_A_stand_alone_rule_0DefaultConsequenceInvoker : unsupported classversion 50.0 If I change java compiler compliance to 1.5 I get rid of errors, but because of project policy I can't set 1.5 compliance level.
