We switched the defaults around prior to release. We should be using
jboss-ser where poss. because of the perf benefits, but there were
issues with it in 1.4 betas hence my switching the default to java
serialization till Clebert released JBoss Serialization 1.0.1.
Sure, if we want to force JBoss serialization, then this JIRA is
irrelevant.
Re: reason to have it be configurable, it provides a fallback
option if
there is any issue with jboss serialization. IMHO, that's valid.
If you feel this is a useful option, then OK.
