FYI... I asked the same question here: http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&t=146142 As a rule, I think any Java object is treated as minOccurs=0. The only thing that isn't optional are primitives like int. Alas, I too am interested in some control over this because some objects are not optional and we should be able to annotate them as such.
