[JBoss jBPM] - newbie: looking to implement an old POJO client

HI, I'm sorry but I wasn't able to find any answer about my problem. I'm a newbie to Jboss and JBPM so I'm going around without any success. I installed everything and I deployed some example succesffully. Now my "next level" is to try to implement a POJO client able to connect to the server and retrieve information about active processes and tasks (and even to interact with them). Is there some easy way to do it? Where I can find docs to solve this problem? I even read about some WS implementation but API could be enough for my case, where I can find some code example? Should I connect to the DB to retrieve this information or I can query it to the server itself? Any link or advice? Hoping that my answer aren't too foolish... Thank you in advance! You can't configure that afaik. I cannot imagine that each ejb timer is a thread that is kept for a long period if they are not running That does not sound as EE. Is that really so? What appserver are you running on. both are valid options. In the case of using an mdb, you also have to configure a queue, deploy the mdb etc, write a actionhandler that puts the message in the queue. When using async nodes this is done for you. You have less control in the latter situation about priorities etc... [JBoss jBPM] - Async node or JMS message ?

Hi all ! I have in my process one Node which performs a "fire and forget" operation.....I may add an Action Handler which sends a JMS message to an MDB (that does the job) or I might as well add an Asynch node that executed the biz logic. Is there anybody who has got experience with Async nodes ? I found this tread about an API and it appears the current API is not mature. http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&p=4160822#4160822 I'm pleased to see that this is already being focused on. However, my question still is valid; I assume it is not valid to always use the latest version of a description, so how do I get to an instance with just using the id? Get a connection from hibernate and use the tables directly? [JBoss jBPM] - find a process instance

I'm a bit confused; the documentation has an example on how to set context variables. In the part where it updates some variables, it takes the following steps: - findLatestProcessDefinition - findProcessInstances using the ProcessDefinition's id - get(0) because in the unit test there can only be one Now, I find it strange that it is just assumed that a process instance is based on the LATEST process definition. Normally I have a process instance id and have no idea if a newer version of the definition has been uploaded, so I cannot make that assumption. How do I retrieve the process instance based on just the id? I can probably query the tables, find the definition id from the jbpm_procesinstance table and from there continue, but I assume there must be an API for this. That is ok... I you need to backup something without someone interaction sounds like its an automated task. So you can do this with Nodes in jBPM. Hope it helps.
