Hey all, I'm trying to dip some toes into the water with Drools, and have an application that would be a good start but having some understanding/lacking an appropriate example issue. The application context, let's say, is Mortgages, and already using the Mortgage rules that are stored in a running instance of Guvnor. Going back to 'toe in water', lets assume that all 'facts' are loaded on call (so nothing is pre-loaded, all data to run a rule is supplied at the time the rule is called). This is to make it easier to get started without jumping all-in just yet ;-) Using the mortgage business rule 'CreditApproval' that is already loaded into Guvnor, I can see passing the Application object, with the creditRating field/fact to a rule. However, instead of populating and returning a loanApplication object, how would I return just the decision/end result of a rule if it was only one value (the approved/not approved decision) from the java app? KnowledgeBase is loaded from the java app, but struggling with StatefulKnowledgeSession versus StatelessKnowledgeSession and how to simply get back the rule decision value (again, preferably without a specific object if it is only one value)? I'm also looking to only fire/execute one rule at a time for now until we get comfortable - any help for an app developer trying to ease their way into drools? Effective Dating of Rules

Is there a way to effective date a rule through a program? Requirement: without using the Guvnor UI to write the rules, trying to upload a .drl file using REST APIs which already has rules specified "without" the date-effective/date-expire attributes. Is there a way to maintain versions that could be used by effective dating the entire package itself? Or in general, how do we effective date the rules in Guvnor without using date-effective attributes for rules and create a knowledgebase from the package based on the current date? drools-solver results question

Hello, I'm starting to work with the drools-solver to help on a gaming project. Basically, we have a game that works in two modes: 1) a competitive game where humans (or agents) compete with one another on a well defined game board to achieve 24 points by using three (or four) agricultural development tokens. 2. A puzzle, where all 4 players work cooperatively to create an equitable solution, where all 4 players win with at least 24 points by means of our agricultural development tokens. I am starting to work with drools-solver to address the puzzle part of our game. Basically, we are interested in having the solver do two things for us: a) find the optimal solution for our game/puzzle, based upon our requirements [this part seems quite straightforward] and b) getting the total number of solutions that satisfy our constraints. We would like, as well, to be able to inspect these other, sub-optimal, solutions, in order to explore our game and puzzle further. From my reading of the "Solver" API , it looks like we will only be able to get the optimal solution. Does anyone have any suggestions for a workaround in this case? Or is there some functionality in the solver that I am missing? Need help with setFocus

Hi All, Need some help with understanding setFocus. I have the following use case: if (condition1) { if (condition2) { } else if (condition3) { } else if (condition 4) { } } if (condition5) { if (condition2) { } else if (condition3) { } else if (condition 4) { } } I created 3 rules (rule2, rule3, rule4) for checking condition2, condition3, condition4 and created 1 agenda group (groupX) for them. I created 2 rules (rule1, rule5) for checking condition1, condition5 and created 1 agenda group(groupY) for them. rule "rule1" agenda-group "groupY" when // then drools.setFocus("groupX"); end rule "rule3" agenda-group "groupX" activation-group "someActiveGroup" when // then // end >From the java code: ksession.getAgenda().getAgendaGroup("groupY").setFocus(); Problem: The first time, drools.setFocus("groupX") is invoked, I see that it's working fine. rule2 or rule3 or rule4 get triggered. But, the SECOND time that drools.setFocus("groupX") is invoked, I don't see that any rule in agenda-group groupX is being invoked...even though one of the rule's LHS explicitly matches...thinking that the activation-group is cancelling all the activation's (after one rule in that activation group is fired), I even removed the activation-group statement. But, it didn't help...ideally, I would like to bunch rule2, rule3, rule4 in one activation group. Can you please let me know as to why the second invocation of setFocus is not working? I even tried to remove everything in LHS of rule2/3/4, to see if the second invocation would work...it doesn't... Drools beginner - unable to resolve method using strict-mode

You'll see nearly all the logic is moved from java to the drl and we have removed the need for nested objects by using objects relaitionally, which also allows us to exploit cross products to drive the application. Ruleflow not working with stateless session in drools-server 5.5.0.Final

I am running drools-server 5.5.0.Final and I am having a problem with stateless sessions and ruleflows. Only the first step in the ruleflow executes. There is a catch to my problem though. I have drools-server hosted in JBoss 7.1. If I restart the service by disabling and then enabling via the admin console then the ruleflow works correctly (all nodes hit) one time. So, it always works just after the service starts. Each time after the first rule execution it stops at the first ruleflow node. I am sending commands to the service in JSON format through the REST interface. If I send the same commands in the same order through Java / eclipse then the ruleflow works correctly every time. How to read XML using XMLPackageReader-Drools-compiler.5.2.1.final?

Hi, I am using Drools-compiler.5.2.1.final. I am trying to convert an drl to xml and vice versa using DrlParser, DrlDumper, XMLPackageReader and XML Dumper. Drl to XML conversion works fine but XML to Drl throws NPE. I have placed the XML file under a folder called sample. NPE is thrown at line 5.. Also attached is the exception. Please suggest. TIA. Drools Planner: Vehicle routing problems

Hi, as discussed the other day with Ge0ffrey on IRC, I've been trying to get some vehicle routing done using the new TSP / chaining functionality in drools planner. I've written an example, but am having problems with the chaining of jobs together. After pulling my hair out, I've put together an example into my fork of planner, showing a simplified example of how I am approaching it, and the problem that can be replicated. https://github.com/davidglassborow/drools-planner/tree/vehicle_routing It is a very simple console app along the same lines as the hello world example for NQueens. On running it will print out the chains, and you will see the some Jobs appear more than once in the same list. On the planning variable it seems to be get assigned in front of itself, I've put some notes in the source, and checked that the same doesn't occur in your TSP example. I'm not sure if its a bug in the way I've setup things, or whether its an issue in the chain move code. Greatly appreciated if anybody in the know gets a chance to have a look. Drools Planner: what if possible values of a PlanningVariable are dependent of another one?

Hi All, I have a PlanningEntity that has several planning variables, say A and B. Now, if A is O then B can be X or Y and when A is P then B can be Y or Z. I see two routes: * create a solution property that generates X, Y and Z as alternatives for B and rely on the score rules to dismiss improper values, depending on the value of A * create an entity property that only generates the possible values for B (i.e. X,Y for A=O and Y,Z for A=P) What is the best route? (Alternatively I do not use the constructionHeuristic and just start of my solution with a randomly (but correct) generated solution) Regards, Willem

Spring, KnowledgeAgent, and Guvnor

I'm having a problem connecting my KnowledgeAgent to a package in Guvnor. I'm using Spring to instantiate the KnowledgeAgent. The agent initializes perfectly well when I point to a local change-set that in-turn points to a local rule. However, even though I have the same rule in a package in Guvnor, the KnowledgeAgent fails with the following exception when I point to the package's change-set in Guvnor: The code at KnowledgeBaseImpl.java:148 is (using 5.3.0.Final): Here is the simple rule in the Guvnor as returned by the URL for the package source URL: Here is the local change-set definition. The line that is commented is the failing resource, whereas the local file resource works fine: Guvnor is residing on a Tomcat server. I could not find anything related to this on the forum. Starting resource change scanner and notifier in drools-server.

Hi, I would like to ask for help with setting up drools-server with Guvnor. I am using version 5.1.1 of both. I am trying to set up an instance of drools-server in Tomcat that periodically loads new updates of packages published in Guvnor (both drools-server and Guvnor run in the same instance of Tomcat). This leads me to the assumption that drools-server does not start these services by default. My question is then can/how do I configure drools-server to start these services such that it will update new changes from Guvnor automatically? named query TasksAssignedAsPotentialOwner doesn't work with MySql db

Hi, When I add a task (having two potential owners) by calling the method addTask followed by calling the method getTasksAssignedAsPotentialOwner of org.jbpm.task.service.TaskClient I expect to receive a list of TaskSummaries containing at least the previously added task. But I actually get an empty list! Here is my setup and possible solution: I am using the trunk version of ./jbpm-human-task/src/main/resources/META-INF/orm.xml and a MYSQL database. When calling addTask the Task table will be populated with a NULL actualOwner_id. The named query TasksAssignedAsPotentialOwner "select new org.jbpm.task.query.TaskSummary(...t.taskData.actualOwner...) from ... left join t.taskData.actualOwner ..." of orm.xml generates SQL consisting of an inner join "inner join OrganizationalEntity user7_ on task0_.actualOwner_id=user7_.id" which doesn't take the NULL actualOwner_id correctly into account. When I replace the named query TasksAssignedAsPotentialOwner with "select new org.jbpm.task.query.TaskSummary(...actualOwner...) from ...left join t.taskData.actualOwner as actualOwner ...", then the generated SQL consists of an "left outer join OrganizationalEntity user2_ on task0_.actualOwner_id=user2_.id" which takes the NULL actualOwner_id correctly into account. So I get a List of TaskSummaries containing the added task. Is this a correct fix? I give up, where is drools:execution-node defined??

I see <drools:execution-node id="node1"/> in the drools server knowledge-services.xml and throughout the documentation. But, my app can't compile because that is undefined. I looked in drools-spring.xsd and spring-beans.xsd (the two namespaces defined in that file), but no joy. Am I just blind?? Anyone know where it is defined? Does drools generate document from drl files?

I want to add some comments on drl files and get a document from that. I know that guvnor can do this for me but it simply copy all the drl file content into a pdf file. What I want is that we can write some comments in a specified format provided by drools and generate a document like, html. Error Inserting events into drools fusion stream

Hi All, I'm trying to implement drools fusion into my app. The scenario of my app is as follows: - Facts will be received continuosly. - On receving fact I'm generating a new event and adding it into a new working memory entry point stream. Also I'm adding facts into session coz I'll be updating them. - I need to apply rules on continuous stream of events. - I've not used any camel + spring or pipeline. Are these mandatory to use? For 1st fact everything works fine but when I receive 2nd fact I'm getting Now when I'm trying to get entry point on receive of 2nd alarm I'm getting org.drools.RuntimeDroolsException: Unexpected exception executing action org.drools.reteoo.PropagationQueuingNode$PropagateAction@9ff411 Caused by: java.util.concurrent.RejectedExecutionException. On debug I found that the above exception is coming when I'm calling session.getWorkingMemoryEntryPoint("MyStream"); Can anyone please help me that how should I insert facts and events into working memory? I'd invested ample amount of time searching for this but I'm empty handed. Guys please help this is very urgent for me. Guvnor enumerations

Hi folks, I don't suppose anything notable changed between 5.3 and 5.5 in the way Guvnor loads data enumerations? I have a number of enumerations similar to the following: 'MyFact.currencies' : (new com.myapp.guvnor.enums.CurrencyEnum()).isoCodes() But I see the exception in Guvnor: Unable to load enumeration data. [Error: unable to invoke method: isoCodes] [Near :{... 'MyFact.': ….}] ^ [Line: 1, Column: 1] Error type: org.mvel2.PropertyAccessException The jar is in the lib directory, there is a method called "isoCodes()", and when I run the main class inside it then the various enumerations are returned. And yes, it did (does) work absolutely fine in 5.3 with this same configuration. Steve

Where is org.drools.server package for camel server?

I downloaded and deployed the Drools 5.4 drools integration server ("drools-camel-server-5.4.0.Final.war") trying to run the test. However, there is a class referenced in test.jsp "org.drools.server.CamelServerApp" which I cannot find (actually, I found the source code for CR1 for that class in grepcode http://grepcode.com/file/repo1.maven.org/maven2/org.drools/drools-camel-s...) . Also, I can not even find the package org.drools.server. Can someone tell me anything about this class/package? Where is it and is it just for the test? Date equal comparison fails - don't understand why

Hi I am comparing SimpleAccount( dateAccountOpened == "5-Feb-2011") where dateAccountOpened is "Sat Feb 05 00:00:00 GMT+02:00 2011" (if you call toString()). The equal comparator fails (==) but the greater than comparator passes (>) which I don't understand. 'KnowledgeAgent capabilities'. Does Drools server support on the fly rule updating as when using KnowledgeAgent to create KnowledgeBase objects? Question about custom accumulation functions

Hi, While testing my custom accumulation function I noticed an unexpected behavior (th'ats of course a personal point of view). It seems that Drools 5.1 calls accumulate(...) and getResult(...) as many times as the number of accumulated facts (accumulate, getResult, accumulate, getResult, etc...). Guvnor seems to copy assets across External RDBMS and file system

I set up SQL Server as the external repository, and left everything else in guvnor and jboss AS7 configured pretty much according to defaults. When I create assets in guvnor, I see that changes are being made in the MSSQL db. Despite changes to the db, however, I'm still seeing changes to the Repository and Workspace folders. It gets more interesting when I truncate the tables in the external guvnor db, and restart guvnor, it seems to get all of its assets back from those two folders. Am I doing something wrong? Is it reconstructing the assets from lucene indexes? If MSSQL is already indexing things, is the lucene index still necessary? Are these basic JCR concepts that I am not grasping? Thanks, Yuri

how to debug rules in JBoss AS?

Hello, I know one can debug rules (put breakpoints in .drl and ruleflow files) when running/debugging an application as a Drools Application. However, I would like to debug rules when my application is running in JBoss AS - just like we do a normal debugging of a Remote application running in a different JVM ,by enabling the JDWP on the server (-Xrunjdwp:transport=dt_socket,address=8787,server=y,suspend=n) and then connecting to the specified port. Basically, I would like to be able to debug both my Java classes and rules together. Is it possible? thanks, Marina

Fire Rule in Stateless Knowledge Session

Hi, I am new in Drools. I am using Drools version 5.1.0 My requirement is kind of request response, where I have to perform some checks for the request and respond the result. Hence, I decided to go with stateless knowledge session. I have prepared .DRL file and it contains set of rules. When some request receives I have to identify the rule(s) belongs to that request and then fire the rule(s). I am not able to figure out how to categories the rules request wise in DRL file? Also, how to fire only those rules which belongs to the category. For example, there are three kinds of requests Rq1, Rq2 and Rq3. There are rules in DRL file: R1, R2, R3, R4 and R5. R1, R2 belongs to Rq1, R3 belongs to Rq2 and R4, R5 belongs to Rq3. When some request receives only its belonging rules should be fired. For example, on receiving of Rq2 only R3 should be fired. Guvnor: Accessing Bound Variable in "Then" Statement

Hello. I started with a search and didn't find an answer. I apologize if my search-fu was lacking today. I'm a non-developer tasked with rules creation and testing using guvnor. I have found some scenarios where I can bind a variable to either the whole input model or a fact in the input model and then later access those in the output model by selecting "Bound Variable" from the popup box in the Then statement. In other scenarios, "Bound Variable" is not an option (only Literal or Formula). What must I do to be able to access the bound variables from the When statement(s) in the Then statement(s)? Translate Drools to CLIPS rules

Hi, I'm interested in possibilities to convert (one-way) Drools to CLIPS rules. I've followed the discussion about the canceled support for the CLIPS parser in Drools ("Drools Clips", last reply 2 Feb 2013). However, are there any options left to make a one-way conversion? My interest in this is that I currently do a little research about how to fill the gap between central business rule engines and business process implementation and execution on smartphones / tablets (iOS, Android, Windows Phone 8). Currently I'm under the opinion that good old CLIPS could theoretically be a common denominator to enable common rule definition, and partial execution of these on mobile devices. Guvnor and DSL i18n

Does Guvnor 5.5.0.Final provide i18n for created DSLs? If not, might this be an upcoming Guvnor 6 feature? I have seen the i18n/l10n of Guvnor's main UI, via the locale parameter, and this is great. To fully support international customers, though, we need to extend this to the the DSL that is authored by and presented to the user. By i18n of the DSLs, I mean that 1. a single DSL can be expressed many times, once for each (supported) locale, 2. each DSL expression is stored with its locale, and 3. the correct DSL expression is retrieved, based on the user's locale. I don't see this in the UI or the documentation. I did see this, though, in the "Drools Introduction and General User Guide", under "4.7.1. Error during fetching rules via REST API

Hi, I am trying to access guvnor(on tomcat) through my application(on websphere) through a rest API call using "HttpURLConnection", but when i use connection.connect(); it throws me the following error. Guvnor 6.0 User Security

Maybe it's too early to ask this question, but in reviewing 6.0 beta 2 I didn't see how user security would be managed. In 5.1.1 we have 100+ packages with 100+ users assigned various roles from read only to authoring. Our packages are hierarchical in that we have an overarching and intermediary set that everyone can view, and then individual packages that a user may have authoring privileges. Is there a similar sense in the new framework? Thanks Dean

Using a teradata db with DROOLS (or RH BRMS) - has anyone done it?

Quick question: we've been using Oracle with the BRMS (and with DROOLS running with Tomcat) without only minor issues. Now someone has the idea to replace Oracle with Teradata, and I'm supposed to prototype a JDBC connection - which for various reasons has not been going smoothly. Has anyone had any success at doing this? If so any suggestions would be happy accepted. (The setup we'll be using is BRMS with the RH Ent App Platform, btw.) Drools Guvnor v5.3 & 5.4 onwards uses weld and seam frameworks causing this error. Though i do not have any clue about the given exception, But Guvnor v5.2.0 works perfectly in Websphere AS7 without any issues. But remember, it works only in Firefox browser. Guvnor Rest API for uploading model

Hi people! I have an scenario where I have to create packages dinamically in Guvnor. All the packages share the same pojo model. What I did is having the model in global area, and then, after creating the new package using guvnor REST API, I need to import the model to the new package. In the UI, I can made it just importing it manually from global area to my package. From REST API, what I tried to do is just getting the model with REST API from global area, and then try to upload it to my new package (just send a APPLICATION_OCTET_STREAM with the model I received.. The problem I am facing is that model is successfully created, but model classes are not automatically imported to Drools Header. I have seen this reported here: https://issues.jboss.org/browse/GUVNOR-1995 Does anyone has some workaround or some idea about this? Thanks! [Optaplanner] No-arg constructor for BendableScoreDefinition

Is there an example that uses BendableScore? I'm trying to convert my app from using HardSoftScore to BendableScore and I've run into my first issue: Changing from: @XStreamConverter(value = XStreamScoreConverter.class, types = {HardSoftLongScoreDefinition.class}) to @XStreamConverter(value = XStreamScoreConverter.class, types = {BendableScoreDefinition.class}) throws: Caused by: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: The scoreDefinitionClass (class org.optaplanner.core.impl.score.buildin.bendable.BendableScoreDefinition) does not have a public no-arg constructor. The answer to this issue would be helpful but I'll probably hit other bumps along the way. Does anyone have an example that uses BendableScore? I read that theses lazy facts proxy were introduced in Drools 4 in order to make the rule engine/working memory consistent. I have some questions about the general implentation of shadow facts in drools 5.4 : - Did the shadow facts been implemented since version 4, or was it earlyier? - Are the shadow facts still implemented in drools 5.4 final? - How the mapping between the fact fields and the proxy fields is implemented ? By this i want to know all fields are copy when the fact is insert into the session. - Is there the possibility to disable shadow facts ? Drools eval and variable assigning.

I need a little help with Drools eval and variable assigning. rule "check that no previously submitted requests exist" when $user : UserFormField( name == 'employeeId', value != null ) $repository : Repository( ) $activeRequests : List( ) from $repository.findActiveRequestsByEmployee( $user.getValue() ) # call to repository eval( $activeRequests.size() > 0 ) then System.err.println(' You have active requests: ' + ((Request)$activeRequests.get(0)).getTitle); insert(Boolean.TRUE); end In this rule I try to access repository and get active requests for current user. Rule compiles and executes without any exceptions or warnings. In debug mode it can be seen that repository returns non empty list and I expect to see console message 'You have active requests' but this doesn't happen. Fire rule only upon change of particular event (or fact)

Hi all, after using drools for some time now, I have repeatedly stumbled upon situations where it would have been useful to be able to tell Drools to fire a rule only upon the insertion of a particular event, but not other events/facts on which the rule depends. It might be that I am hopelessly mis-guided, but I would like to float an idea and see what you think. Is there any fundamental reason (e.g. rooted in the rete-algorithm or the way Drools implements it) that would preclude the implementation of 'upon'? And, more importantly, do you even agree with me that it would be a useful extension? Please note that while I always spoke of events in conjunction with 'upon' I don't see a reason why it should not behave this way with plain facts as well. Please not as well that the inverse of upon would also be conceivable: "don't fire this rule just because <some pattern> triggered", e.g. maybe simply "not(upon(Pattern()))". Just found a way to stop fact insert time evaluation (tested in 5.5)

Originally I was asking for a method to stop LHS evaluation for a bunch of rules in some other agenda-groups which I am not intended to trigger. But it turned out that agenda-group filtering will only happen when you fire your rules. *ALL* rules in *ANY* agenda-groups are evaluated anyway when you are inserting fact. Then according to this post http://drools.46999.n3.nabble.com/Agenda-group-in-fact-insert-time-tp4023..., Wolfgang suggested to use an extra object to control the LHS evaluation by changing the value, e.g. Focus( value == "one" ). After many tests in 5.5.0.Final, this has no effect. Say if you have a rule: public static class MyClass { private Integer i; public MyClass(Integer i) { this.i = i; } public Integer getMyInteger() { System.out.println("getMyInteger is called for " + i); return i; } } rule test agenda-group "one" when String ( toString == "agenda-group one") MyClass ( myInteger == 10 ) then end when you call ksession.insert(new MyClass(10)); in your java code, no matter what the value of Focus() is, or even you dont have Focus() object inserted, getMyInteger() of MyClass is still called/evaluated to match with == 10. This is highly undesired when you actually only want to trigger rules in agenda-group "two". And then finally I found that if you use the keyword "from", it seems it is way smarter because *it will not be evaluated unless all the preceding conditions are matched!* Try the following example: rule try agenda-group "one" when not Object() from System.out.println(1) MyClass ( myInteger == 10 ) not Object() from System.out.println(2) MyClass ( myInteger == 9 ) not Object() from System.out.println(3) then end If you call ksession.insert(new MyClass(10)), you will only see the output 1, 2 but not 3 because MyClass ( myInteger == 9 ) does not match. This is really smart! Delete a List of Facts

Hi, I want to delete a list of facts from the working memory and therefore created following rule: rule "delete rule" agenda-group "evaluation" salience 50 no-loop true when $facts : ArrayList(size > 0) from collect (Fact()) then logger.info("delete rule, number of facts in list: " + $facts.size()); for (int i = 0; i < $facts.size(); i++) { Fact f = (Fact)$facts.get(i); logger.info("retract fact id: " + f.getId()); retract(f); } end When inserting 10 facts with IDs 1 to 10 and then fire all rules, I get following result: delete rule, number of facts in list: 10 retract fact id: 1 retract fact id: 3 retract fact id: 5 retract fact id: 7 retract fact id: 9 but, the facts 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 are not deleted. I would have expected to set "no-loop" to true, as I do some modification of facts and don't want that this rule is fired again with the same facts. When I set "no-loop" to false, I get following result: delete rule, number of facts in list: 10 retract fact id: 1 retract fact id: 3 retract fact id: 5 retract fact id: 7 retract fact id: 9 delete rule, number of facts in list: 5 retract fact id: 2 retract fact id: 6 retract fact id: 10 delete rule, number of facts in list: 2 retract fact id: 4 delete rule, number of facts in list: 1 retract fact id: 8 now, all facts are deleted but the "delete rule" was fired 4 times. Is this the intended behavior of Drools? Is there a way to fire a rule only once and delete a list of facts? Benefits of pluggable operators

What are the benefits of using pluggable operators (implementations of org.drools.base.evaluators.EvaluatorDefinition such str, matches, or before) versus simply making an equivalent function call? I've read the Creating pluggable operators<http://blog.athico.com/2010/06/creating-pluggable-oprators.html> blog post. Apart from saying that the Eclipse plugin can recognize these operators, it doesn't really make a case for why I'd want to create my own implementation. One might argue that operators enhance reusability, but a static method offers much the same benefit. Does a pluggable operator have any optimization, caching, or other advantage? For example, here are two ways to match the start of a string in a property of a fact, one using the "str[startsWith]" operator and another with Java's String.startsWith method: declare Fact key : String @key end rule "Use operator" when Fact(key str[startsWith] "abc") then // do something end rule "Use method" when Fact(key.startsWith("abc")) then // do something end Does one of these perform better than the other? Shared Facts across nodes

Hello all, After searching the web and Drools forums for a couple of days, I couldn't find a solution to the problem I've got to solve. Anyway, if there's a thread pointing at the same problem, I apologize and please, let me know where it is. My current scenario involves a Drools cluster and demands high availability and scalability of nodes. I have to provide a pool of rules (Guvnor should easily handle that) and a set of servers to process facts against those rules. This is where I'm stuck at. I need to make sure all generated facts are shared across drools servers at the time they get into the cluster. In other words, what I need is a kind of shared (and persistent) session, and this session should contain unique facts, so the nodes don't waste time processing what has already been processed by another node. Also, session response time is critical. Since I'm new to the Drools world, maybe I'm missing some important aspects here, however, as far as I understood, Drools should be able to supply my requirements. Already read about Drools-Grid (Is it still alive? Being developed? Reliable?) and JBoss Infinispan. Both seem to help on solving this requirement, but I'm not sure whether they're the correct tools to attach to the arch and get to the solution. Moreover, I have to make sure an instance of Guvnor can share rules with other instances being queried by the Drools servers. How can I solve the problems? Action Object and Condition Object in XLS DTABLE

I am working on Drools 5.5.0.Final and have a question regarding XLS and a Decision Table structure, I have a ConditionObject and an ActionObject and wanted to know or see an example for XLS that produces a "does exist" for the ActionObject in the when. I can simply write the rule in a DRL, but translating how to make the XLS compiler create the same is proving challenging. Is it possible to deploy Guvnor and Form Builder on different nodes to work in embeded structure

Hi, I have a form builder embedded in guvnor. And both are deployed on the same node of jboss on porty 8080. I want to deploy these on different nodes and want form-builder to still open with in guvnor. I just wanna know that, Is it possible to deploy Guvnor on one node of jboss and Form builder on a different node. Being on different nodes form builder can still be embedded in guvnor. Is there any configuration available to do this. I want to do this to share server's load. People creating processes and forms both have different servers and the applications accessing assets are directly getting it from guvnor. Issue in Integrating Guvnor and Form Builder

Hi, I am having an issue in integrating GUVNOR and JBPM-FORM-BUILDER. I cannot find any link between form builder and guvnor. Although I can create/open form definitions in guvnor using form builder but, when I save the form definition a popup is displayed with disable drop downs of "Process ID" and "TASK ID" Problem : How to link forms with processes in guvnor. Do I have to keep form builder as standalone form designer, generate forms and then upload manually as FTLs in guvnor with names "<tasknam>-taskform" or there's someway to directly link forms to human tasks. 1. BPMN2 Question

Hello, I am very new to BPMN. We are currently using Drools 5.3 version. I face the below error when i run the project. Also am trying to understand the running of Call Activity. Error Guvnor and Form Builder on Different Nodes in JBOSS

Hi, I am having an issue in integrating GUVNOR and JBPM-FORM-BUILDER when I deploy guvnor and form builder on different nodes. I am getting Http-500 : Error getting task from Guvnor. Or I am getting Http 404 : /jbpm-form-builder/embed. It asks for authentication to form-builder And the error comes after successful authentication. I cannot find any server log printed, only the error comes on screen. Attached is the screen shot. All works fine when I deploy guvnor and form builder on the same node. As it turned out, this problem came about because I had a model that was based on a POJO jar file. The jar that was in Guvnor contained the offending field(s), but when the package was being loaded it was using a version of the jar that did not contain the offending fields. Using Java Rule Engine JSR-94

Hey, I read about JSR-94 and found it quite useful, so was trying to do a POC on its usage. These are the steps which i followed. 1. Made a new java application. 2. Added the JSR-94 api jars in its build path. 3. Made a rule as myRuleFile.drl 4. Wrote a RuleAdapter class as shown in drools expert document Chapter 5. The Java Rule Engine API (JSR94). But when i tried to run the piece of code, it kept giving me errors related to Class missing related to drools. Are are the drools jar required to run this example,if yes, then what is the avantage of using jsr-94 api ? If any specific jars, can you please list them out? If I am doing anything wrong, then, can you please point me to the correct direction. Drools Fusion Dropping Events?

I've been working to load test Drools 5.3 to determine if its a fit for a project. As part of the test I programmatically insert events as rapidly as possible; an example, my earlier test inserted 10k events in about 300ms. There is currently a single rule which reads the event and stores the event's value into the only fact in Drools. I'm very happy to report, and I'm sure it will be no surprise to anyone, that the engine processes all the events in roughly 1 sec. However I have noticed that any large number of events (~>1000) usually sees that a small number of events don't get processed. I think after 10k events as many as 7 appear to have gone unprocessed. If 100 events are inserted, rather than 10k, no events get disregarded. Being new to Drools I can easily accept that my java code or DRL code is off or unoptimized in some way. However not knowing how Drools does its magic I'm currently inclined to think that Drools gets swamped (10k in 300ms is a lot) and a few events get dropped so Drools can keep operating. Is this a known or expected behavior from Drools? If not I am happy to post my code, it is similar to the other code sets I've posted in the last few days. I'm still new to Drools and trying to learn its behavior so any insight or enlightenment is greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Jason

Error : JAAS Authentication with Guvnor 5.5.0 and Authorization Error

Hi, I have run into a set of errors configuring JAAS Authentication for Guvnor. I have searched a lot on jboss community and for all the solutions nothing is working for me. I am getting either the login popup or I am getting "This User has no permissions setup". The Guvnor Manual is referring to jboss eap 5 and I am trying to do this on Jboss AS 7.1. Note : I am unable to find login-config.xml file mentioned in the following link. http://docs.jboss.org/drools/release/5.5.0.Final/drools-guvnor-docs/html/... . Drools 6.0.0.Beta2 Documentation and Examples

I'm trying to use Drools 6.0.0.Beta2 but none of the examples appear to be "Kie"-ified making it difficult to figure out. Is there more up to date documentation concerning Drools 6 without pooring through source code? I'm specifically interested in drools + jbpm, new annotations, git integration, maven integration, new Drools UI (the uberfire one which I'm still unclear whether this is going to be called guvnor or something completely different). I realize how hard it is to work on a project and document at the same time - especially given the multi-continent talks coming up but this has been an ongoing struggle with JBoss based projects. The early releases (and even final) lack sufficient accurate documentation to even evaluate its use. I can only assume that this substantially reduces support contract opportunities and frustrates early adopters. First the specifics: JDK 1.6, Mac OSX, using Drools 5.5 Final The full source code and rules are pasted below but here's the gist, I have a stateful knowledge session to which I am inserting events and running an accumulate on the input events. I have a for loop generating the events and inserting them as rapidly as possible. In the rules I use an accumulator to calculate the average of the values contained within the events. The behavior I'm observing is that if I insert ~120 events without any waiting I receive an NPE. If I Thread.sleep for even just 1ms the test goes off without a hitch. Have I uncovered a bug which should be logged in JIRA? I would check through JIRA to see if something similar has been logged but I'm so unfamiliar with the codebase, not to mention it could all just be user error. Requirement:Equip to tasks scheduling.Earlier tasks may not exceed a waittime to latest endtime for each job. 2 JOBs to plan each with 2 identical TASKs with only 1 EQUIPMENT anchor: J1 comprises T1,T2 and J2 comprises T1,T2. problem Fact: EQUIPMENT E1 planning Entity: TASK T1|duration=3|waittime=2 and T2|duration=5|waittime=3 OptaPlan Schedule attempt ------------------------- anchor(E1:T1J1,T1J2,T2J1,T2J2) - so T1J1 is pos1,T1J2 is pos2 etc : timings are 3+3+5+5 and respective waittimes are 2,2,3,3 Rule: get latest ending task by JOB and punish if waittime is exceeded between the tasks for that specific JOB. Erro : JAAS Authentication with Guvnor 5.5.0 and Authorization Error

Hi, I have run into a set of errors configuring JAAS Authentication for Guvnor. I have searched a lot on jboss community and for all the solutions nothing is working for me. I am getting either the login popup or I am getting "This User has no permissions setup". The Guvnor Manual is referring to jboss eap 5 and I am trying to do this on Jboss AS 7.1. Note : I am unable to find login-config.xml file mentioned in the following link. http://docs.jboss.org/drools/release/5.5.0.Final/drools-guvnor-docs/html/... . Is guvnor deployment targeted only for JBOSS EAP 5.0 ? Environment: 1. Guvnor 5.5.0.Final 2. JBOSS AS 7.1.0 Files Configured (Only these files I configured): 1. Standalone.xml 2. Guvnor.war/WEB-INF/beans.xml 3.
