The JBoss JIRA has just been upgraded to include the ability to tag an
issue with a Label.
We can hijack this to produce lists of reports on which we want
community contributions. If you there is an issue which you feel would
benefit from a contribution, add the Community_Contributor_Needed
label, and it will show up on http://www.seamframework.org/Community/ContributingToSeam
Adding/Editing labels is restricted to the issue owner and committers.

Excel reporting

We have two new committers, Daniel Roth and Nicklas Karlsson who have
developed a JSF library for Excel reporting which will be part of Seam
2.1. Thanks guys!
Norman has plans to reorganise the PDF, Charting and Excel components
to provided more consistency, so watch this space!

* <tip>, <warning>, <note> are all fully supported and look nice :-)
* Remember to use <programlisting role="JAVA">, <programlisting
role="XML"> or <programlisting role="XHTML"> when writing code blocks
to get syntax highlighting

Seam Regressions in JBossAS Smoke Tests

This has lead to two Seam-related regressions in the JBossAS Smoke
Tests. Stack traces attached.
In SeamNumberguessExampleUnitTestCase, what's requiring that the
DefaultJndiBindingPolicy be Serializable? Though possible to implement
on the jboss-metadata side, we can't guarantee that user-defined
implementations will also be Serializable.
The SeamDvdExampleUnitTestCase simply doesn't deploy due to what looks
like a JNDI mismatch. From where is Seam getting the target JNDI name?

Seriously: we can monitor the "bare metal" aspects of running
applications. But I can imagine that it would be
very helpful to go even further and monitor the actual application.
Things like (examples)
- what is the average value of a shopping cart
- how many users are choosing which path in a navigation flow
- how long did a specific action take
- ...
In order to accomplish this, the writer of an application needs to
determine what data he wants from which place. I can imagine
additional annotations like e.g. @Timing on method level to initiate
the data gathering. Seam could then
compute the timing for that method and provide it in some means to
management applications (e.g. in a database table or
Mbean attribute or ...), from where a management application like RHQ
could pick it up.
