Seam 3 Module pages vandalized
by Jason Porter
It came to my attention via some post on the forums that some of our module
pages have been vandalized. I've corrected the problem (rolled back to the
correct version) and locked down the pages to admin edit access only. If you
have problems editing your page please talk to Shane, Dan or myself and
we'll get you setup properly.

Don't we need a Seam - Spring module ?
by Antoine Sabot-Durand
Hi Team,
3 weeks ago I started a consulting mission in a big Insurance company that
is Redhat / JBoss customer. They use most of Java EE 5 implementation
provided by JBoss 5 EAP except for EJB 3. No EJB because it's also a Spring
Shop. One of my missions is to help them to build their next official stack
based on JBoss EAP 6 (which should be out in January). So I try to promote
full Java EE 6 stack (with CDI and EJB 3.1) and put Spring aside as an
alternative/Legacy framework. But it won't work if they don't have a
supported solution to use their old Spring components / Knowledge in this
new stack.
More globally one big objection I encounter very often with the adoption of
CDI (at least in France) is investment done in Spring. So if we want to
facilitate the adoption we have to provide a Bridge with Spring to allow
devs to integrate the "de facto standard" in the "official standard".
I know that Rick Hightower and CDISource Team wrote a nice extension on the
subject (https://github.com/CDISource/cdisource) but I think such a module
should be endorsed by a company that'll provide support on it like RH.
Seam 2 provided this Bridge so it seems normal to provide it as well in Seam
3.
What is your opinion ?
Thanks,

Seam drools
by Marek Śmigielski
Hi,
I need to integrpplication with drools engine and I think of using
seam-drools module. What is the current status of this module and what
features should I expect to work? I realize that some bugfixes or
modification can be necessary to but still I think that it is better to use
something in beta than writing from scratch.
Could you suggest also the best way of starting integrating with this
module. I fork seam/drool repository but there is still some work done in
both tsurdilo and sbryzak repositories that propably will be useful.

Looking for help with application migration to AS7
by Sande Gilda
I am documenting how to migrate an application from AS5/AS6 to AS7.Its
purpose is to trackapplication changes that are required to deploy and
run existing archives in AS7. It would also be useful to include general
issues about migrating from EE5 to EE6. The document can be found at
https://docs.jboss.org/author/display/AS7/How+do+I+migrate+my+application....
The current content is based on information obtained from existing
community documentation, issues I ran into while migrating a Seam 2 WAR,
and Andy's experience migrating existing applications. So far I have
added the following:
* Class loading changes which includes modules and manifest entries
* DataSource and JDBC drivers
* Portable JNDI syntax
* Logging (although I don't believe this is required, other than
manifest entries)
* Infinispan 2nd level cache
The content is very limited at this point. so I am trying to gather
additional information. Please help me build up and improve this
document. I'm looking for the following:
1. People to review what's there and give feedback, corrections, and
suggestions for improvement.
2. Additional sections that would be useful.
3. Other components that will need to be modified when migrating
applications..
4. Anyone who has experience migrating applications to AS7 and knows
of changes that must be made to successfully deploy and run the
application.
Please feel free to contribute directly to this document (
https://docs.jboss.org/author/display/AS7/How+do+I+migrate+my+application...
)or, if you prefer, send information and feedback to me.
Thanks,
Sande

Seam 3.1 Release Schedule
by Shane Bryzak
Team,
Here are the tentative release that we are aiming at for the Seam 3.1
release:
August 12 - 3.1 Beta1
September 2 - 3.1 CR1
September 30 - 3.1 Final
We may have additional beta releases between Beta1 and CR1 if required,
likewise there may be additional CR releases if QA requests them. In
addition to the modules that are already a part of Seam 3.0, the plan is
to also include the following new modules:
Seam Cron
Seam JMS
Seam JCR
Seam Mail
Seam Reports
Seam Social
Seam Transactions (split from Seam Persistence)
Module leads for these new modules, can you please let me know if you
anticipate any problems with the above release dates.
