Hi, on the roadmap are many more pieces of the collaboration puzzle. I'll be publishing a more digestable version soon. For now you can check out in jira. Chat, Files and various mobile integration pieces are planned. However, we are really focused on 1-2 releases out and what happens when is really contributor dependent. [Design of JBoss Portal] - WSRP in testsuite + testsuite / test organization

I have been working on integrating most of the tests we have excepted wsrp. WSRP does not build all its artifacts in the "output" target of the build which makes it harder to integrate (btw WSRP testing targets is a mess). I understand that it takes time and probably building tests should not be in the output target. Probably that could be the same for the portlet tests that can take time to build on slow filesystems. What I call test artifacts are : everything related to run a test, from the service deployed in the server to the war file containing a particular test case deployed during the execution of the test (which is a common testing pattern we use). I am thinking about defining a simple contract between testsuite and the different builds. 1/ a package-tests which just package the tests. This task should depend on the "init" target to setup the properties and such. | <target name="package-tests" depends="init"> | ... | </target> | 2/ an execute-tests which execute all the tests in the build. This task also should depend on the "init" target. | <target name="execte-tests" depends="init"> | ... | </target> | Of course then every module is free to declare more targets. I think what you propose is the way to go and may not be particularly slower than using the byte arrays. In the end a state transfer of in-memory state involves walking the tree on the side providing the state, and storing persistent state involves executing the cache loader's code for storing each node. The byte arrays just package up the data for efficient transmission over the wire. I'm currently working on rewriting the ServiceController to "wrap" the kernel deployer and provide the backward compatible JMX behaviour. The version I have at the moment (incomplete) is not using JBossXB but it does have a ServiceMetaData (like the BeanMetaData) with some external xml parsing ripped from the ServiceCreator/Configurator that populates the model. I expect the xml parsing to be replaced with JBossXB once we have a well defined schema than can cope with some of the "strangeness" like injecting DOM elements, and the custom POJO parsing, and the "depends optional-attribute". The purpose of this feature is to just to allow classloaders to take part in the dependency mechanism. e.g. I would expect you to use this to "inject" the classloader bean at the deployment level, make the whole deployment "depend" upon the classloader. You can do this with AOP. e.g. Some guy even wrote aspect that extends the "observable pattern" aspect on our WIKI to make any pojo fire javabean property change events. Like I said on another thread, the idea of nulling the property is to "help the garbage collector". It will catch and ignore any error. Without it, there is no way under IOC to "unhook" injections which if/when a memory leak occurs will lead to even more memory being leaked.
